3. "Imagine" by John Lennon
4. "What's Going On" by Marvin Gaye
5. "Respect" by Aretha Franklin

FWIW. I did not make this list, not did I make the gutiarist list..Rolling Stones magazine did.

There is also a list "The top 500 Songs of all time". I will post it if anyone wants to see it.

Do they say who did the voting for either list? Obviously something like this is going to have many different opinions.

Honestly, encompassing all genres and all generations, I actually think this list is pretty good. The only one I'm not crazy about is "Good Vibrations" by the Beach Boys. I think a good replacement for it would be "One" by U2. Surprised that's not on the list.

Regarding the top 10 song list.

When the article ran in the 2004 issue, musicians Brian Wilson, Tom Morello, Jimmy Barnes, Brandon Boyd, Solomon Burke, James Hetfield, ?uestlove, Ray Manzarek, Slash, Axl Rose, Ozzy Osbourne and Maya Ford all were featured in a column each about their personal ten favorite songs.

Some of those names listed were probably so wasted I'm surprised they could even think of ten songs.

Definitely a couple debatable selections further down on the list...

180. Hey Ya!, Outkast

Ahead of:

187. Back in Black, AC/DC

190. Knocking on Heaven's Door, Bob Dylan

What?

Trying to look at it without any personal bias, but I don't know how anyone can say Hey Ya! by Outkast is the 180th greatest song ever written.

That top 10 is brutal. Only one good song (like a rolling stone) and that belongs nowhere near the top 10.

Ok, so the top two songs are:

1. "Like a Rolling Stone" by Bob Dylan
2. "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" by The Rolling Stones

... and this list was compiled by which magazine?
