First time in probably 20 years I did not wager on any football last weekend and I must say I enjoyed kicking back and watching two football games without the stress of who will win, who will cover, how many points will be scored etc, etc. I realized that there is much more to life then gambling including spending time with my family watching something other than sports and getting some things accomplished that I often put off because of gambling. Now I'm not saying how long this break will last but it was great to step back and just shut it down for a few weeks. I find it highly unlikely that I will not have a wager on the Super Bowl but hey you never know. Gambling has been very good to me over the last 5-6 years but I just realized that I spend way too much time thinking about it. Even my family has noticed a change in my behavior. Well just wanted to stop by and say hello to all my degenerate friends here at The Rx and I will catch up with you guys real soon. Later boys!!!

harrington, you and i have had much fun,fkn with one another over the years, but for once im goin to be serious....14 years ago i was a miserable mfer, and didnt know why. i worked every day, drank every day,lit one kool filter off the one in my hand..to make a long story short,i joined alcoholics annonymous, and it saved my ass..the one thing that terrified me was the thought of goin the rest of my lfe, without as much as a can of beer. i soon found out that i didnt have to worry about tomorrow,or next week,JUST TODAY,ONE DAY AT A TIME..if you do anything long enough,it becomes a habit, healthy or unhealthy..after 6 months of wakin up in the mornin and tellin myself that the focus would be on today, and today only,it dawned on me one evenin that i hadnt even thought of that'one day at a time' bidness, buuut, thats what i was doin..YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHA....what a relief..the point of all this is..dont worry about the super bowl, baseball season, etc, just focus on today...gamblers and addicts want instant gratification,i was a compulsive drinker, and in my opinion, you might be a compulsive gambler....harrington,if you dont go to ga,find somethin else to do,and do the fk out of it..(i raise a garden, walk, play guitar, etc)start yerself a thread in the health and fitness forum and challenge yerself to go 30 days, without gamblin(one day at a time of course)..its all about choices...i wish you the very best.'keep the continue'

Harry, I wish you great success with what you've decided. Be strong, I don't wanna hear about you hanging out at the airport gambling on which flights will arrive on time.

Harrington,
Congrats on getting away from this awful bad habit. Am starting my 29th year of gambling this year and God i wish i would have never learned about gambling, its one of the worst bad habits a person could ever get.
Drugs and alcohol are easier to quit then gambling and i try to warn young guys starting out that all gambling is going do is waste your life that you could be doing something else, like being with your family. On top of that i tell them chances are very high that not only are they going to waste their time away but their money and mind also.
Congrats and good luck

Thanks MrHognuts and I'm glad you have turned your life around and it is always fun giving each other shit from time to time. I give you all the credit in the world for what you have accomplished with the weight loss, god knows I could lose about 40 lbs or so and I'm glad you gave up the booze but I love to gamble and always will, but I am enjoying a little time away.

harrington, I've only read a few of your posts, but I didn't know you had this bad of gambling problem. Usually it's much worse for chronic losers. Good Luck
