On Monday I have two interviews to go to, which will be my first "real" interviews. Both are for marketing companies.

Anyone have any tips on what to expect, questions I should ask the company. Basically anything to give me some kind of expectation would be greatly appreciated.

1. Be professionally dressed
2. Be attentive, smile, show interest
3. Listen to the questions, take a breathe to think what they are asking, answer the question
4. If it is an open ended question, spin it to include your strenghts and experiences
5. Do your homework before hand (know the company, the position, day to day activities, goals)
6. Have a few questions jotted down that you can go to when at the end of the interview they let you ask them things (shows you what to know what it is all about)
7. Close at the end. Tell them you feel it would be a good fit and you want to move forward, what is the next step!

Remember, you are also using this interview to determine if this job is right fo you.

Good luck

Confidence is key. It's nice that you have 2 interviews, so you can leverage one against the other (i.e. you don't necessarily NEED either one of them individually).

I conduct a good amount of interviews, and some of the bigger turnoffs include:

People who don't let me finish my question/comment. There is nothing worse than when I am in mid-question and the interviewee cuts me off. Listen to what the interviewer is saying/asking, think about it, and answer thoughtfully. There is nothing wrong with 3-5 second pauses in the conversation.

People who pretend they know everything. It is refreshing and I know they guy is being honest when he admits to not knowing how to do something.

Good luck.

Oh yeah, and eye contact, ESPECIALLY when shaking hands at the beginning and end.

Lets say they do offer me the job, is there anything wrong with asking for a day or two to think about it? Or is that like a slap in the face to the interviewer/company?

Glad I don;t have to go through all that BS again.

So generic:

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

At your last job whats the one thing that you would do different?

At your last job how did you handle tension between you and a co-worker?

And Blah Blah Blah.

You know it seemed to me when I courted a girl it never worked but if we jumped in the sack sooner than later the relationship lasted some what longer..............LOL

Good list. Many candidates neglect #5. I will always ask "What do you know about this company?" or "Why do you want to work for this company?".

If they don't hire you on the spot then you don't have the job.

:ohno:
Maybe applicable if you are applying at McDonald's. I've never hired anyone on the spot... no matter how impressive they were during the interview process.
