I'll never understand why a defense doesn't put a defender on the inbounder. There is no reason to give the inbounder a clear look. And yes, I have USC who just gave up a game tying LAYUP with 2 seconds on the clock.

Actually most teams (coaches philosophy) will sag the inbound defender off the passer, to protect the basket. In this case Taylor was wide open, after faking a cut off a double screen at the elbow. No.1 for USC did not do his job in taking the passing lane, under the hoop, away. Looks like you win, in spite of that boo boo. Congrats!

Yea , got away with one there. But it just never seems justified to me. Giving the inbounder a clearview of the court just makes no sense.

Does anyone recall if there was a defender on Laetner in that infamous Duke game way back? My mind, as untrustworthy as it is, tells me there wasn't. And Christian had a clear look and no interference for throwing the touchdown pass.
