I went to Jimmy Swagerts church yesterday.

I have a friend who has been begging me for months to go to his church.
You know everyone has a friend like this guy. The guy who thinks your doomed for hell, always quoting scripture to you.
Well finally after his 30th request I finally took him up on his offer to go to his church.

I have never seen Jimmy Swagert since all the mess went down in the late 80s.

I was not expecting much.

The church was about half full. The place holds about 8thousand, I would say there was about 3500 to 4000. Not great like the heyday but still not bad.

The music was awesome. They had 2 singers there that would put anyone who has ever been on American Idol to shame.

Jimmy can still play that piano with the worlds best, and he still sings to.

I have to say I was impressed.

He did not preach the normal give me your money sermon that most do.
He preached the word of God without pointing his fingers at everyone and judging them.

I think he learned his lesson and is a sincere preacher. Thats more than I can say about over half the people these days.

He talked about Heath Ledger and started crying about him dying.

It was interesting.

Lets not be ignorant.

He is not doing it for the money.

He turned down mega millions in his teens to go pro like his 1st cousin Jerry Lee Lewis.

If he had money on his mind he would have gone on to have a Hall of Fame Rock and Roll career making millions of dollars.

Jerry Lee Lewis will be the first to tell you that his cousin Jimmy has twice the talent is he ever had.

He does not preach money like all the other ones do.
His message is very unpopular these days.

If he was in it for the money he would certainly change his message.

Im not saying im going to start going to his church every week.

Im just saying that I respect him.

Thats more than I can say about 90% of the TV preachers that preach money, money, money every week.

I guess I am the only one here that believes people can change.
