when would you prefer the bash?

RickA has asked me to run an informal poll to get an idea of when most people would prefer to have the bash this year.

The choices are:

1) August 29th, 30th

2) September 5th, 6th.

*Please note, this poll is not necessarilly the sole determinor of when the bash will be, there are other considerations as well such as hotel availability and other things. We are simply trying to get a rough idea of our members preference. We will do our best to annouce a FIRM bash date on March 1.

Guys. Lets keep in mind that Labor day is September 1st this year.

Too bad that July wasnt a choice so no one would have kids in school during the bash. Both of the choices above are after school starts in Texas. But we start pretty soon, around August 15th or so.

But just keep in mind that Monday Sept 1st is Labor day. That right there would make me stay an extra day or two

....on the other side of the coin though is the fact that some of us are locked into family obligations for labor day weekend.

I was just thinking that Labor Day weekend makes it easier for posters who have kids in school. At least Monday is a holiday for students. I couldnt think of a better reason to drop the kids off at the Grandparents house for the 3 day weekend!

Plus way too many high stakes fantasy football drafts labor day weekend. No chance of me being able to attend then when I will be in Vegas the next weekend anyway for NFL opening weekend.

for those doing the Vegas football contests (Hilton, etc), the sign-up deadline is likely the 5th or 6th, with the early deadlines for the bonus contests the week before

Regarding Labor Day weekend.

For one thing it is not an NFL weekend which is the principle motivation for holding the Bash in September to begin with. Financial constraints come into play also (correct me if I am wrong) but I believe room rates are higher on national holiday 3 day weekends on the strip.

The Rx is very aware of how holding the Bash on a full fledged college and pro football weekend makes it virtually impossible for Rxers who work in the industry to get away from their jobs to attend and that is very unfortunate. This is balanced off by the excitement a REAL football weekend on the Las Vegas Strip offers many of our rank and file posters who are not working in the industry.

We are ONLY considering the two dates mentioned in the poll and are looking for your feedback as to which one of those dates only would be more doable for you.

Once a date is selected we can then secure a venue which in all probablilty will be on the Vegas strip again this year (maybe even Planet Hollywood again).

Take this to the bank - there will only be ONE Bash this year.
