If you don't believe it, then watch the video and all the scientific prove that is presented. The expert they bring on at the end of the video points out that many pregnancies begin with the mother under the infuence of alcohol, although he doesn't explain what that means exactly. One young expecting mother declares that she enjoys wine or beer 4 to 5 times a week, but it's in "moderation" so it's OK, even though she is 8 months pregnant. This girl goes on to say that she gets judgemental looks from strangers when they see her drink in public, and the Asian woman who put this piece together explains how it is wrong and out-of-line for people to be judgemental of pregnant mothers drinking. I'm glad she cleared that controversy up...it's not the pregnant women drinking who are irresponsible, it's those who pass judgement upon them.

Everytime you think MSM has hit rock bottom, something like this pops up to lower the bar even further.

If you don't not believe this, check the video out for yourself.

I agree. It's disgraceful when the silent majority, allegedly taking their marching orders from the Christian Reight, look upon these innocent drinking-moms-to-be with such self-righteous scorn. After all, there was a good chance they were drunk when they got pregnant to begin with, the expert doctor reminded us. Therefore, how harmful can a few drinks 4 or 5 nights a week really be to a 8-month old fetus? The REAL problem is with these judgemental folks looking down on these young mothers as if they had more experience and better judgement. Don't they respect these young, drinking mother's judgement?! They were raised on the internet, for Chrisakes!

I don't think this is anything new to this generation. You think pregnant women didn't drink 30,40,50,80,100 years ago? Sure they did. And most kids turned out fine. In moderation it probably is fine. The problem is that moderation can be misjudged of course, so the best course is to avoid. But it's probably not that big of a deal.

Nothing wrong with a pregnant woman drinking 1-2 occasional glasses of wine or beer after the first trimester. My wife did in moderation and my kids turned out fine. My son is 11 and is a virtual straight A student and is an all-star baseball player. Now if you are talking about getting hammered that is a horrible idea. Same with smoking.

The problem lies in what is considered "moderation". The girl who proudly admits to drinking 4 to 5 times a week, and probably didn't stop at "moderation" every time, has run alcohol through her unborn's system 150 to 180 times. That CAN'T be considered harmless.

This was an irresponsible, one-sided (s)hit piece. To prove it, watch the comedy act of the so-called expert they carted out at the end of the interview. One of the main points in the segment was the displeasure that these drinking, pregnant mothers felt when their drinking wasn't given a warm reception in public. I guess those of us who think it is a mother's duty to NOT drink are simply old-fashioned and "just don't get it".

"I'm a firm believer that anything in moderation is OK," says Beth.

I can't wait until her son starts doing heroin in moderation someday. Awesomeness.

On a side note, I can't believe I actually agree with A-L on something. Gay.

I was thinking the same thing.

With that being said - it's sad that people are so weak that they'll hunt for anything stamped "science" to justify risking their future children.

As far as whether or not most kids turn out fine, I guess it depends on whether or not you're happy and content with "fine".

Oh c'mon. A little bit of alcohol after the first trimester is fine.

Who's talking about getting hammered?

My sister's doctor went so far as to counsel her to have a glass of wine every other day (or every day, if she wanted.) British doctors often recommend a pint of Guinness a day as it's high in iron. And, keeps the stress level down.

Well therein lies the problem with your perception.

The secondary part of your summation is utterly imaginary on your part.

Disclosure FWIW....All three of my first wife's children (second two were my kids) were carried to term with her being abstinent from alcohol use.

Seems not unreasonable to abstain.

Seems inversely hysterical to presume that any amount of alcohol use by the pregnant female is certain to be destructive to the fetus.

The point is why risk the health of your child. Not sure I see the sense in trying to justify doing it. Fine sign a waver that says if the kid turns out to be a retard you get no gov money. They always how it is their business yet they are always in line for free money when they get all fucked up. They want freedom to do what they want then they are free to do what they want just don't get no aid when shit goes bad.

Why take the chances with drinking while pregnant knowing that the kid you are bringing into the world will in all likelihood live to be around 80 years old....(given the advances in medicine and added lifespan)......and those 80 years are going to be spent in a world saturated with computers......?????

Can't give up drinking for 9 months to give your offspring the best chance of competing in a high tech world for the next 7-8 decades?

It seems very reasonable that occasional and moderated use of alcohol during pregnancy does not in fact "risk the health" of the fetus.

Suggesting that one can use alcohol liberally during pregnancy is just as foolish as sternly stating that 100% abstinence is the only healthy choice.
