Man why do people see something great happen, they think its the greatest thing ever.

1. Tyree catch is one of the greatest if not the greatest super bowl catch ever? No. So out of 42 super bowls that was the greatest catch. Go check out some of Swann catches.

2. One of the greatest upsets ever? No. I almost beat the same team 4 weeks ago and had been playing better since that game.

3. Giants have one of the greatest d-lines ever. No. Thats comical.

hyperbole drives media outlets.
and its gotten to the point that most national media coverage is often unwatchable.
you cant even turn on a college basketball game nowadays without espn 'analysts' (word in quotes for a reason) using some ridiculous superlative to describe a player.

'so-and-so is the best help side defender in the country'
'so-and-so is the best passing big man since bill walton'
'so-and-so is the fastest player player baseline to baseline in the country'.

its just utter nonsense.
its shit that you could never measure, even if you wanted to.

basically, they take the subjective element in sports to a ridiculous degree.

not surprisingly, the super bowl has delivered its own hyperbole.

the only one that has some truth to it is the tyree catch being one of the best ever. not so much in the degree of difficulty (although it was a damn tough catch) but in terms of what was at stake and the way he was able to control the ball in traffic.

To say that u would have to watch 42 super bowls and every single catch. What if there was a great catch for a first down in super bowl 10. That wouldnt be a highlight cause it wasnt as important and u would have never saw it.

Being one of the greatest and the greatest are two different animals. Based on the scramble by Eli, time on the clock and where he caught it on his body it was a great catch. Shoot if he misses this ball or Manning takes the sack there would be 10's if not hundreds of threads asking is Belichick and or Brady the best of all time. If you can say that was one of the top 10 greatest catches in the SB then Sir that is ONE of the greatest catches.

2. One of the greatest upsets ever? No. I almost beat the same team 4 weeks ago and had been playing better since that game.

Ummm, they were 12 point dogs so that would mean they would have been the 4th largest spread to win a Super Bowl. This ain't brain surgery here.

Who's saying that? The Tackles are mediocre at best but when you have Osi, Tuck, and some random guy in the 2nd Tackle spot thats going to pose many match up problems. Shoot this line made the Patriots All-Star laden line look like that State Farm commercial with Hassellback and the 12 year old kids blocking for him.

Please tell me you're a disgruntled Redskins fan and this will all make sense to me

Hate the skins. But let get something straight. Happy u won and I wanted u to win. But at the same time. Gmen have a great game or season on the d-line and that boosts them to one of the best ever. To tell u the truth the giant that said it oym. is the overrated one. I love tuck and really like strahan but your boy omy hasnt really done anything but talk all playoffs. Also as much as I defended eli no way I could be a redskins fan.

I agree it was one of the greatest catches and plays Ive seen. But i havent seen all 42 super bowls. Ive seen about 12-15 of them. And highlights from a few others. So im not going to say greatest catches ever. Did see some of swann catches and they were great.

I'm saying it's one of the greatest plays, end to end, ever. The scramble, the catch, 3rd and 5, last minute of the game, need a TD to win. Hmmm... maybe it was the greatest play in SB history.

agree 100% , i barely watched any superbowl pregame shows or listened to any sports radio the last 2 weeks, all it was was super bowl this and that, they was absolutely no other sports even mentioned other than the scores. Watched espn for 5 minutes after the game was over, i cant take sean salisbury and the other espn clowns. They truely are "talking heads"

optimum and key word was "plays" and not percieved great catches...just because a catch was difficult, it doesn't make it a great play...it is kind of sitting high up in an end zone and watching a play develop from an advantageous viewpoint...

I enjoy watching running plays where great blocks are thrown early to enable a good runner to find daylight...when everyone executes on the offensive side, including wide recievers who block...

Remember Bart Starr calling many an audible at the line of scimmage resulting in a great play...back then, most QB's called their own plays, before offensive coordinators became the norm..
