Every Sportsbook in town has taken a loss on the Super Bowl ! Jay Kornegay said the books needed Patriots to win and the over. Why ? Because everyone was taking Giants and the under as a correlated Parlay and there were tons of Money lines wagers on the Giants. They made Money as they always do on the props of course because they build in a huge vig but they still lost plenty of $$ ! I sure didn't get any of their $$ !

I understand the money line loss but +12 and under 55 is not a correlated parlay..those Las Vegas beancounters must be pissed off...

Agreed total as high as 55 makes NE -12 and under very possible.

Also, as much as they lost ML on the NYG I am sure they had plenty of NE -400, -450 coming in pretty heavy.

I understand completly as every expert and tout I listened to said that if you take the Giants, also take the under ! Makes good sense to me ! If the Giants were going to win or beat the spread, it was because of their defense which is exactly what happened.

That is simply not what happened. The Patriots ML was not a popular wager and they said it never is. Tourists come into town and they like to put up a little to make a lot. They did very well and the books all lost !Problem for the books was nobody was taking Patriots like the books expected. Several books here were forced to go down to - 11 1/2 by game time.

But I imagine the casinos themselves cleaned up and helped all those little sportsbooks out...

Sportsbook manager for Leroy's said their total volume was up about 15 % at the book so I'm pretty sure that they will set a new record for Super Bowl. I'm noty shedding any tears for the Books but simply reporting how the Las Vegas books did. They got whopped one and all !They all said it was a worst case scenaria for them.

By the way... My wife worked as a cocktail waitress at the smaller Casino called Silver City for many years until it closed about 7 years ago or so and her father was a pit boss at the old Castaways and then at the Frontier...He went by the name of " Betch " . Did you ever frequent those haunts back when you lived here ?

Didn't miss many casinos back in the day..played in numerous poker games at the Castaways and remember when Siegfried and Roy were the headliners at the Frontier..went to numerous fights at the Silver Slipper..Wasn't the Silver City across from the Stardust? Also frequented places like the Paddlewheel, Sam's Town, Golden Gate, El Cortez, and of course Jerry's Nugget and the old Union Plaza..and who can forget the Desert Inn and the Dunes....
