Ladanian Tomlinson. Never a more complete back IMO. I called it 2 years ago and everyone said to give it time... but the time is now. The things he is doing have never been done before. He will set all the records if he feels like it.

Jake Not to be a dick but how can you be the best when you sit on the sideline the biggest game of your life?

Without a doubt in my mind...Barry Sanders right there and if Gale Sayers could have played longer, he would have made my top five....

gale was great and in all honesty #4 or 5. i dnt look at what a player does over time, just what he di in his time. stats dont always detemine how good someone is.

LT after 7 years: 10,650 rushing yards, 3375 receiving yards, 129 TDs, 24 fumbles.

Jim Brown after 7 years: 9,322 rushing yards, 1832 receiving yards, 96 TDs, 45 fumbles.

Not saying Jim Brown wasn't great, but I'd be hard pressed to ever say he was better than LT.

Barry Sanders for me..

The guy has missed one freakin game in seven years. Something tells me that he was hurt enough where he knew that trying to play would hurt his team. It's not like he has ANY history of being a baby and trying to get time off.

Also, LT had a torn MCL. His quad freakin atrophied in that game.

I've never seen anyone with Barry Sanders moves, athleticism, and quickness. Payton would be my #2. Keep in mind though I wasnt around to see Jim brown play.....only saw him in the Mars movie, so based on that flick he's #3! LOL.

barry sanders hands down, look at who blocked for him his entire career. he did it by himself. jim brown, eric dickerson, gale sayers and walter payton. this is counting skills, numbers, and heart. LT might of made it but he is missing heart. just ask the patroits how far numbers get you without heart.

Where is everyone getting this "LT doesn't have the heart" stuff?

The guy has missed one game in 7 years and because he sits out most of the AFC championship game because of a torn MCL and a quad that atrophied he now lacks heart? I just don't see the basis...

barry????

everyone says barry

barry was great and i loved watching the guy play

but he was not to good inside the 5, a really bad blocker in the backfield, and was just average catching the ball. he played in a system spread offense and he made great crazy runs.

i think if you put the likes of brown, jackson, walter and even sayers in that type of offense you would of seen the same stuff, but put barry in their offense and he would of not faired to well

it must be that im just old school, my philosophy is if you can walk to the sidelines you better play. i dont know if it was a media ploy or not but brady went from a walking boot to playing in 2 weeks. maybe LT was really injured beyond what i think he was, time will tell. that was the game of his life so he was either hurt or he has no heart.when rivers played needing surgery and LT didnt i took it as no heart.

Your list has merit until I read one "Jesse Craig James" ?? To quote Walter Sobchek from the Big Lebowski , "Huh , what?" I'd take Roger Craig over Craig James any day and about twenty backs over him. Craig James ? You mean Edderin James right ? You just got the names screwed up ? The dude had one decent year and don't give me that he'd be great if he didnt blow out his knee bullshit either. Craig James eh ? Hmm , The two sport super stud , The Human wrecking ball , Sweetness , The DICK and then Craig James you say .... ? Something don't fit here. Something stinks.

James was the last white guy to go over 1000 rushing yards in a season. Gotta support whitey.
