Is anybody watching The Wire this season? I've been really impressed with this season so far. I just wish I could understand what they were saying a little better. I'm glad McNulty is back boozing it up again.

I was wondering the same thing. If it was, then it didn't work. Where the hell did he go is my question? Surley he's not dead, of course they've killed lots of folks on here that I never would have expected. Brody, Stringer, Prop Joe's fat ass.

Interesting, Wire is probably my favorite show. Brotherhood on showtime is pretty close. I have tried to get into the sheild and I just can't get hooked. Maybe I need to get the first season and start at the begining.

"The Sheild" (careful spoiler)

A great montage of the evolution and de-evolution of the Strike Team through the first 5 seasons of the Shield. Excellent song for the montage. Do not watch however if you haven't seen through Season 5.

IMO The Wire is the better of the two shows but it lacks a dynamic character like Det. Vic Mackey (Michael Chiklis) from The Shield. Det. Jimmy McNulty (Dominic West) is Ok but actully the more interesting and compelling characters have been the villians on the show.

Avon Barksdale
Stringer Bell
Omar Little
Marlo Stanford
The Greek crew
The Longshoremen's Union crew

---
Detectives Bunk and Freeman are key characters on the police side which includes to many good characters to mention here.

Living here in Costa Rica I am behind US residents for viewing the latest season of The Wire but it will air soon enough.

Omar was trying to surprise Marlo's crerw by getting a numbers edge, but they had spotted him earlier and were setting him up. No way they kill off Omar. He will get his revenge.

Yea... It was his plan but Marlo was on to him and set him up. I am ahead of show right now b/c i watched the bootleg ep 1-7 a few weeks ago. What ep is on TV right now?

I can't find ep 8-10 so I will have to wait for the ending like everyone else...

they just showed the episode where Omar jumps out of the apartment window after being shot at by Marlo's guys. I think if you have hbo on demand you can actually see one episode ahead, but I have not checked to confirm this.

this is what makes the show so compelling (and real)-what is right is wrong, white is black etc-no good guy there to come to the rescue, because everything is relative and changes in the blink of an eye-i think we all have experiences with this
omar (of all people) and bubs to an extent are essentially the moral compass(es) of the show
one of my favorite examples of this is prior to bodiegetting clipped-mcnulty has him in the park and body tells him the game is rigged-bodie gets got with mcnulty (kinda) to blame-next episode mcnulty says the same exact thing as he resumes his love affair with jamesons and self destruction (ie games rigged against him-and somehow that excuses his and everyones behavior on the show)-love daniels how even he who is well respected and admired even by street police, is worried about prior misdeeds (cant escape his past etc much like omar and bubs and presbuluski and even some of the yo's)
this show is so good we havent understood it yet and may never

Greatest show by far on TV and IMO of all time

Up to episode 7 through torrents

cant wait to see how they tie everything up in just 3 more episodes

Mcnulty bullshitting the papers is fucking awesome

PS just some random trivia, the Wire has ZERO music playing during the show, the only time you will hear music is when they are in a car or a bar. Read somewhere that the creator David Simon didnt want to create the mood he wanted the viewers to decide for themselves. He happened to be a reporter for a few years in Baltimore thus the feel of authenticity on the show
