Had a conversation yesterday with a couple owners of big books down here and were discussing re-ups and new customers...the question was at what time during the sports year was there the most sign-ups of new customers, including re-ups...March Madness or September for football...what do most of you think?

Agree 100 % but so many people are not aware of what it is all about that I will still say that there are more signups for Sept. football ! Not sure...just a guess !

Purely from a Bookmaking view your trying to attract Squares and while a marketing campaign at the start of both makes sense March madness is going to get more Jokers on your Books. Its a bit of a paradox but because NFL lines are so tight instead of it being hard to beat, the Sharps can kill you whereas College Basketball is so volatile there isnt the smart money there that people says there is.

Bottom line is as a layer College basketball is by far a better earner than NFL and I certainly make more laying it. :drink:

To my surprise, my friends said it was March Madness where the phones were ringing off the hook...the books know that in September the business will come their way, but the books make a concentrated effort to sign up new players for the NCAA hoops, baseball, and NBA playoffs...besides a lot of players are broke after football and will re-up with some good offers...made sense to me after they explained it...and the fact that August is pre-season, it leads into a nice September re-up...

Argument for September:
When I think of football, i think of gambling with bookies, when I think of march madness, I think of filling out brackets and doing office pools.

Argument for March Madness:
People can gamble on football a lot with local bookies. Lots of locals don't do football so people are forced to gamble online.

Hey VD,

This is way off topic, but just wondering if you know anything about the book Betsportsinc.com? I know they are out of Costa Rica.

Great question, great thread, the feeling here is most players fund their accounts for foots more so than hoops.

I will ask around..don't know anything off the top of my head...

No need to ask, was just wondering if you knew of them. They stiffed a buddy of mine out of some coin. Just kind of wanted to get the word out and see if you knew any info.
