Okay, so I signup and am offered 12 months of Premier and NFL Sunday Ticket for 69.99 a month for 12 months. It also includes Nascar Hot Pass, not that I care.

Anyway, I decide to include my billing through Qwest as I get a discounted rate that way with the other phone stuff I have with Qwest.

I get my first bill and am not getting the offer I signed up for. Call DTV who tells me I can get the 12 month Premier with NFL but not Hot Pass. I say okay, whatever, just get it setup.

A month later I leave Qwest (was working for them and left) and decided to split my bill back where DTV bills me.

I get charged a cancellation fee even though I opted out of billing and didn't cancel. I call up, they say they'll waive it. Nothing. Call again, say they'll waive it and send me an updated bill because the new charges were way more than I agreed to pay and the guy couldn't explain it. Says I don't have to make a payment and he'd notate my account that I want to see the bill before payment is made since he had no clue what to tell me.

I get home last night and the service is off. I call in today and the lady tells me that she can waive the cancellation fee (I think it actually happened this time) but tells me to turn the service back on I'd need to pay the amount in full (and not just my $30 past due).

She also tells me the offer I signed up for was actually 4 months, not 12, and as a result I have almost $200 in new charges for my plan which was $69.99 plus some hd fees and such which would normally put it around $90.

Says there is nothing she can do and if I cancel, I will be charged a cancellation fee.

PS, for what it's worth, the billing address was never updated even though DTV did my Movers' Connection and I've asked them to update it on more than one occasion so all the bills were going to my previous address...

Anyway, isn't this contract null and void since they cannot honor the deal they offered me? No Hot Pass, no 12 months of Premier... They also won't waive the latest charges for the Premier package and won't reinstate my service even though I haven't seen the updated bill. She wants me to pay it all before they can do anything and I'm just thinking about switching to Dish.

Any tips here? I talked to their cancellation department who is usually the ones to go to but the lady can't do anything for me until the bill is paid, and since I'm being charged for a ton of stuff I was told would be free, I don't really want to pay it in full. I offered to pay my past due and go from there with the new charges that are bogus but she says she can't do anything.

Do I talk to a manager? Should I just cancel and pay what I rightfully owe? I can't see anyway the early cancellation charge is enforceable at all considering they can't honor the deal. Anyway, just pissed off and wondering what the best way to pursue this is going to be. Any advice would be appreciated.

For what it's worth, I've paid every bill on time up until this crap happened and order UFC PPVs almost every time. I have paid them a ton of money and been a good customer and feel like I'm not getting treated like I should. I have HD receivers, DVRs, HD package, the whole nine... just not getting what I signed up for in the least.

I had just about the same shit with DTV and finally i just screw it and junked it.....the bastards reported me to the Credit ppl for the whole amount of my contract then sold the fricking unpaid note to every schister bill collection agency in the country..I got 4 calls a day about that bill for 5 or 6 yrs from 10 different companies.
All this was over 1 pay per view they billed me for that i never even knew was on much less thought about ordering...like a $19 charge that they threw away a customer over and drove me crazy about for the next 5 yrs......Hardly worth it in my estimation.....

O when u talk to the manager named "Jane" ask her hows the weather in India today......

If you want to talk to an American, the trick is to ask for "CRG". At least as of a few years ago... I believe the only CRG, which is the folks who try to save you from disconnecting, are right here in Boise ID.

Other than that, I have always gotten folks in India. I have nothing against the country as a whole, but nearly everytime I call up I have trouble understanding them and it has been one fuckup after another.

The problem is that the lady I just talked to was in CRG and offered to do nothing until I paid my bill. :ohno: She says she can give me 3 months of free movie channels to hang around, but that still is only 7 months of the 12 months they offered for free movies.

And she keeps acting like last month was my fault for not calling in and canceling the movie channels and she expects me to pay in full.

I had some issues when I changed my programming. THey gave me a discount per month for a year. She then advised me to call the customer retention dept after the 12 months. You might want to try that if you have given them a lot of money.

She says they have no offers for 12 months. This whole situation stinks to high hell. I really don't want to go back to Dish though because they don't have the Sunday Ticket. I'd rather just work this out but I don't know what course of action to take to pursue it at this point.

Yep that is 100% true from the time I worked there. They do include a note on the bill a month before it gets billed but most folks don't see it and get charged.

Ask to speak to a supervisor, tell him or her your story..If he agrees with you; get it in writing. If not I would threaten to cancel and move to dish..You can also write them a letter with your full explanation of the situation in which case you would have a response in writing with a deal ironed out? In fact, you may want to just do it in writing that way you have proof...

Back when I went through a bunch of BULLSHIT with them over NFl ticket the guy who finally straightened it out told me they could not get it in writing that I had canceled :WTF:

I called and cancelled twice in the same year, once in January and then again in March and they still had the Ticket active the next season..

I agree, presuming you have no contract but signed up by phone or on a website where you did not save the offer.

Write a polite letter indicating what you believe you had purchased and enquire why their side of the contract has not been fulfilled. If they reply you will have their side of the story. If you get no reply, ignore them and the bill, go elsewhere and use your letter when they go after your credit.

Be careful with Directv, they are getting way too agressive

Just last month I was late with the bill-happens all the time- and then they cancelled the account, charged 250 bucks fee AND they billed my credit card which I used ONCE like two years ago for the whole amount WITHOUT my authorization

Can they even do that? Can they charge a card without you letting them to do so???? I did owe, I am not disputing that. But my account wasnt set up for automatic billing and that particular CC was not in regular use

love directv

For TV, they are the best out there but their customer service is about as bad as it gets from my personal experience. I know they had some JD Power awards every few years but I've had nothing but issue after issue. I've seriously spent at least 5 hours a month since I hooked this up, just talking to these bastards on the phone to fix problems.

i call up directv every once in a while and ask them to take stuff off my bill and they do even if it was in the past. Like I got some espn gameplan taken off just a couple months ago, they also paid a month's bill for putting an extra charge in or something. you can also call and say you are canceling and they will give you free stuff.
i usually always get an american it seems.
