Damn, I'm old enough to miss the NBA on CBS with Billy Cunningham, Dick Stockton and Pat O'brien.


That was the Golden Age.

I miss the NBA on CBS Stockton/Brown in their prime

Good theme music for NBC but Costas was annoying as hell to me

Are you implying Heinsohn was a bit of a homer? :shocked: Some things never change.

At least he didn't give out "Tommy points" back then. There's nothing more painful than listening to a Celtics broadcast.

I have to agree.

They had a game or two this year on FOX that didnt have Tommy and it was so much better to listen too.

I'm not a Celtic fan, but I like listening to Tommy. These type of guys are a dying breed in announcing.

I have probably listened to so much of him that its worn on me.

I'm sure listening to it on a daily basis would make me nuts, but hearing the old school guys off and on, it's great. (Rizzuto drove me nuts being in the NY area.)

Getting to hear Chick Hearn's doing the Laker's game was great. Harry Carrey doing the Cubs or Vin Scully doing Dodger games. There aren't any new guys like them.
