Okay, I was sick around new years and had a nasty cough that made my sides hurt (I swear I just heard GD is going through similar).

Anyways, I'm not sick anymore (feel fine) but the cough is slightly there. I cough once (or maybe a small set of about 3 or 4, but usually just once)...every few hours. At the end of the day, not too bad when I only cough about 5 times a day. But this is not normal. WTF?

Dr. always tells me and my kid that you can't do much for a cough. If it is not bacterial. You have to just let it run its course. My kid will cough while she is sleeping and there is nothing that can be done. Vaporizer, or humidifier does help some during the winter months.

Well, my point isn't to alleviate the coughing symptoms cause I'm not suffering in the slightest.

My fear is that I don't want to live the rest of my life with the cough. It is like I'm a smoker and have the weird cough every few hours.

So basically, I have to just wait it out? I guess not too bad...just was worried because all the other symptoms of my cold left weeks ago and the cough is hanging around

I picked up the ClearLungs stuff Railbird recommended today at Whole Foods. Going to try that and see if it helps as well.

I know when I used to work in the casinos I would have coughing bouts for extended periods of time. It could be the dirty air where you work or live. Try doing some extensive cleaning and check filters at home as well.

My wife got sick before Christmas and finally went to the doctor about a week ago. it was mainly just a nagging cough that wouldn't go away. She was also suffering from sever sinus headaches. Turns out the cough was related to her sinuses and the drainage was causing her to cough. Her cough was so bad at one point she had difficulty breathing. Your problem may be sinus related is my point.
