Goyanksgonj - I would be very happy to join the party this year and help collect stats for the master sheet. Let me know what part you want me to take. I am completely new to capping BB, so I am putty in all y'alls hands. Here to learn and help out where I can.

First, I need to get a complete (preferably playoffs included, if at all possible) copy of last years' (and any other prior years', as well) sheets from member CTP. If you either want to PM me, or the mod, wilheim, one and/or both of us should be able to give you the best way to get in touch with him.

He (CTP) was very active in last year's process after we lost our king (see more lengthy, now closed, thread, which is linked in first post of this current one). I've put out at least 2, possibly more, BOLO's, for him, on the completion thread from last year (also can be found linked above; this contains everything from after the king left; read the end of the more lengthy, and beginning/initial, thread, from last year, for the full story), to no avail.

Once I got those, I'd at least have something to work with. There's definitely other guys that know the "ballpark" when it's come to this in the past, but, we kind of hit a major roadblock when the king left, and, IIRC, several things underwent changes, most minor, after that time (approximately late August/early September, IIRC).

If, by the time the last team's reported, either I haven't had success, with or without your guys' help, by either, CTP reading and/or possibly also responding to this thread himself, or someone contacting him, and then, either contacting me back, either with the sheets themselves, or giving me notice to contact him back, so that he can just send them to me directly, then, I'll take my own desperate measures. Hopefully, my getting involved won't be necessary.

wilheim, if you could try and help us out by being an active part of this process, of trying to hunt CTP down, without you know who around, we've now got a full season's worth of big shoes to fill, and, as was the case in the past, one man cannot run this alone.

GoY - any thing back from Wilheim? Not much to go on to find CTP. I have searched back through previous posts....If you can supply what type of info was being collected and how it was being used, maybe we put a new spreadsheet together....Not sure if that's feasible or not, but I throw it out there.

FYI, folks:

Sorry I haven't posted in a while as far as ST umps are concerned. I've just been swamped like heck here! I'll try and play catch up, hopefully by this weekend.

Thanks!

I wish, Coaster. At this point, it's CTP I'm a little more worried about tracking down, hopefully prior to the start of the regular season (3/25/08).

He's, supposedly, the only one with complete copies of last year's year-end spreadsheets, etc. I think having those will be crucial to us continuing on without pops.

Therefore, CTP, if you see this post, please e-mail me ASAP at GOYANKSGONJ at AOL dot com.

Thanks! Looking forward to a successful season!

If one man with help did something, isn't it possible to re-produce it??

We have an idea.....may not be perfect......may not work....but we can try.

pops69 was and still is a legend, a king.

King is dead........long love the new king........that be you .......G

We await your commands.

If I send someone the '08 crew listings, can we see if we can't start to try and put something, even rough, together?

Opening Day is a week and a day away! :aktion033

Prepare an umpire schedule grid in MS Excel, for starters.

List the crews down the left-most column, double-listing each of the 17 (in cases where there's the potential for DH's, etc.).

Across the top, list the dates all potential regular-season games could be played, starting with tomorrow and Wednesday. After you enter tomorrow, for all future days, what you can do as a shortcut is enter formulas such as:

(pretend B1 is the cell where tomorrow's date is entered)

=B1+1

this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday can be skipped, since the next regular-season game is Sunday night. I'd just type in Sunday's date, and then return to following the procedure outlined above.

The only other exception through to the end of the season is the couple of days for the All-Star Break.

Please, list the umpires' numbers as a separate column when you're listing the crews. I'm providing some helpful links to locate numbers, crew assignments, etc., below:

http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/umpires/roster.jsp
http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/umpires/roster_aaa.jsp
http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/umpires/crews.jsp

Note the misspelling on the first link of umpire Bruce Drekman's last name. The correct spelling is Dreckman.

If you're looking for a "template" sheet to just copy from, and make the appropriate modifications for '08, hit me up via e-mail. I think it's in an earlier post in this thread, in spam prevention format.

If not, wilheim, you're hereby granted my permission to provide anyone attempting to assist with this project, in the absence of "the king" (P.S. any word from him?), with my e-mail addresses, AIM, YIM, ICQ, etc.

wilheim, if you need any of those tidbits of information from me, to be able to give it to others, either respond here, or PM or e-mail me, whichever's your preference.

Looking forward to a successful season, folks! :aktion033
