Creating this thread for folks to post if they are going to games in either

Tampa (NY Yanks)
Clearwater (Phillies)
Dunedin (Blue Jays)
St Petersburg (Devil Rays)

There are of course other great spring training sites within driving distance (one to three hours), but I'm homing in on these four.

Will post the links to schedules asap

Feel welcome to reefer to this thread during the next seven weeks and if you spot games you might be attending, post a note and see if others in the area might join up for drinks/dinner.

If you're traveling in from outside the area, let us know and maybe we can coordinate a few Rx Mini Bashes centered around one or more spring training games.

My two favorite FLA spring training venues are just outside the city limits of Tampa and less than an hour drive away and are in Lakeland(Tigers) and Winter Haven(Indians).

My favorite of the ones listed by Barman is the RAYS in downtown St. Pete..........as you have a stadium over looking the bay, a great location, and a stadium that is usually not overly stuffed with fans(lots of breating room).

I would not even consider attending a Yankees game in their home spring training park unless you are a Yankees fan.............sitting in a cramped and soldout park with 90% Yankee fans is pure torture if your a fan of any other team.

I look forward to attending a game in Lakeland almost twice as much than any other venue.........and after the game, we always hit the bar/restaurant scene at the square in downtown Lakeland.

If you go, park free in the church parking lot one block from the stadium(directly behind the LF fence).

I'll be going to games in the Tampa area also, just not sure on dates yet. Probably Wednesday to Friday of the first week of march. Will post when I know my schedule.

Will be in Clearwater for a few weeks in March and I plan on hitting up a fair share of games.

Here is my ranking/review of the parks I have been to over the years in Florida:

1. Blue Jays (Dunedin)
2. Indians (Winter Haven)
3. Reds (Sarasota)
4. Tigers (Lakeland)
5. Pirates (Bradenton)
6. Rays (St. Pete)
7. Phillies (Clearwater)
8. Red Sox (Ft. Myers)
9. Twins (Ft. Myers)
10. Yankees (Tampa)
11. Orioles (Ft. Lauderdale)

Fish, I've been wanting to meet you for years, way back to the days where you posted over at Bet2Gamble. I made it to my first RX party this year, but you werent there. You up for taking in a ballgame and grabbing a few beers? Let me know.

Absolutely!

I plan on attending games in Winter Haven, Lakeland, and St. Pete........as these are my favorite three venues.

Just let me know in this thread what games are good for you at those venues and will attempt to meet up with you...........St. Pete is the closest to where I live and would be the easiest to get to on short notice.

By the way, attended the Notre Dame Invitational at Jack Russell Stadium over the weekend and had a great time and was witness to some terriffic games, the best being the 10 inning thriller between The Fighting Irish and IOWA.........ND pulling out a thrilling 14-13 victory with 3 runs in the bottom of the 10th on a two out, 3-2 pitch, 2-run single.

It's a shame that CBB does not garnish the attention that I believe it deserves..............

In what respect?

In terms of beaches, it is great................and it's close to 3-4 spring training venues.

Spent time is nearby Dunedin over the weekend(5 miles from Clearwater Beach) and had a great time..........I highly recommend the CHICKABOOM room on main street.........perhaps if we were to catch a game at Dunedin, we could head down there.

Billsfan and myself(through Viking611) know a couple pitchers on the Blue Jays(SP Marcum and CL Accardo) and will see if they want to join us after the game.

Amen, brother. I plan my vacation around the Southern Conference baseball tournament every May: 4-5 days of great baseball. My kids think it is more exciting than the majors (though all of their experience is at The Trop!)

Keep us informed of your spring training sked--may try to hook up with you at some point.

TTP....that would be fun....we should do that, and everyone else in the area as well..Did you have your baby yet?

Barman......I love Progress Energy....I told -FH- the other day, I would love to go to a daytime Spring Training game there....Let us know!

Black Bart....went to my first college bases game ever this past weekend, and it was a thriller...the Irish took on the Hawkeyes in extra innings.

Yea, I agree with you on the CBB. I saw a tournament last year in Bradenton. Watched a game between Ohio State and Harvard. Harvard wasnt the best team to watch, but the players ALWAYS hustle in college baseball. They run out EVERY ground ball. Fun to watch.

I've got a pair of tickets to basically every game at the Jays park for the early part of March. Good seats too. Pick a game you want to go to and we can meet up in Dunedin if you like.

As for Jack Russell, I miss that old park. Brighthouse is a beautiful park, but it lacks the intimate spring training feel.

I'm sorry I missed it. I consider myself a Notre Dame fan and yet I had no idea that they were in town. I've been coaching a high school lacrosse team and it takes up a ton of my time--especially on weekends--so I have no idea what is going on in the "real" world.

I saw Notre Dame when they played their weekend series last year at USF and it was great. There's nothing like a good Saturday college baseball doubleheader--plenty of good baseball for an affordable price. The BEST thing about college baseball is that, literally, anything can happen.

Also going to the Magic/Warriors game in Orlando on the 8th. Let me know if you'll be in the area/at the games.
