We went w/o TV for a year and it was pretty good. You realize fast that you don't communicate w/ your family nearly as much as you thought. At first it felt like we had nothing to talk about, kind of weird. Seriously no wonder 60% of marriages divorce since the TV era, they don't even know each other

I would consider doing it again now that I have young children that I don't want to turn into vegetables, and spend as much time together doing family things as possible. I watch way more TV than I should.

Internet, no way I could live w/o it.

I just went and talked to the wife about this, I think there are a lot of wasted hours that we could spend with the kids with undivided attention, that are now spent with one eye on them and one on the TV. We'll proabably shut it off again once they get to a certain age.

when the power goes out for an hour, it feels like a week. To do a real week, i doubt it.

I have two stories that pertains to this....

First: One of the most succesfull guys I know does not own a TV and refuses to watch one. He is a fitness freak and a male model who is also a self made multi-millionare from real estate.

Second: I had a friend in high school who went one full year without watching TV in order to get a new car when he turned 16 from his mom who made him the offer. On a side note, he is one of the biggest drug dealers I know now.

As for me, no way in hell could I go days without a TV or internet....

I don't really remember the circumstances why we did it. I think it was partly because we thought it was an unnecessary expense and partly because we were lazy and watching TV all the time. Made us get out and enjoy the weather. I think we turned it back on in the winter.
