[h=3]This is so sweet. As the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians go head-to-head for a historic World Series championship title, Cubs fans have adorned late broadcaster Harry Caray’s grave with green apples. But WHY this specific gesture? Find out here![/h]In lieu of flowers, please bring green apples. Chicago Cubs fans adorned late broadcaster
Harry Caray’s grave with the fruit to celebrate the Cubs making it to the World Series for the first time since 1945. While green apples may be a bit unusual, the reason behind the gesture is pretty amazing.

In a 1991 broadcast at the end of the Cubs season, Harry, the host at the time, foreshadowed the very day the Cubs would break their World Series drought and make it to championship, and he did so in such a way that would be remembered for years to come.“Well, a lot of things happened today, and they were all great and they were all thrilling and they were all dramatic,” Caray said of the Cubs final game in ’91. “Sure as God made green apples, someday, the Chicago Cubs are going to be in the World Series — and maybe sooner than you think.”

World Series 2016 — PICS![/h]Caray passed away in 1998 at the age of 83. Throughout his long broadcasting career, he covered five different teams, ending with 16 years in Chicago.
Now that Caray’s premonition about the Cubs’ World Series appearance has come to life, dedicated fans are returning to his gravesite to pay their respects to the late renowned, passionate broadcaster. We can only hope that the Cubs come out strong in the World Series for a historic win! The team has been plagued with bad luck since winning the World Series back to back in 1907 and 1908. Their last appearance was in 1945.
Now, the Cubs are vying for the 2016 championship for the first time in 71 years! While they lost last night in
Game 1 6-0,
they still have 6 more chances to potentially reclaim their long-lost title.
