Damn boys! Opened up my mail the other day and out pops a nice calendar from The Greek. "Sweat the game, not the payout" That's what it says on the front. I want to take it to work and hang it on the wall. All of the important dates for sporting events are listed in the appropriate months. Wife says no way in hell it goes to work. People hate gamblers and I'd get fired. I just wanna say fuck em!:103631605

A very inexpensive way for us to know that your wife is a dum dum....at least on that one topic...heh

Let me preach the truth to ya, my brother

Take the calender to work and by opening day NFL at the latest, you'll have at least five co-workers who will sign up at The Greek and thus get you some nice promo bonuses.

oh yeah..I got a calender too - But it doesn't replace my Betty Boop themed one next to my desk here at the Bar n Grill.

BUT, the Greek calendar also has a couple of extra months to start off 2009, so it will likely get some wall time by mid December this year.

I work in the "criminal justice system" (oxymoron I know) so it's probably best that it stays at home. I still want to tell everyone to fuck off though. I don't frown at all the bastards who are buying scratch tickets, quick pick tickets or going to the indians to play bj.

I discuss it with no one. Told my wife never to discuss it with anyone. The other day at the in-laws we were watching the last ten laps of the NASCAR Race and she blurts out......"you got any money on anybody!" I shrunk down in my chair as everyone looked at me like I had some disease.

i agree with your post, people will never understand that gambling is alot like the stock market.i have my family and a few of my dads friends and the people on these forums to talk to.the people that use to bet with my dad quit ,and moved on to become some of the biggest drug dealers in horry county[two places you guys might have heard of is coway and myrtle beach].its sad that people put us in the same class as drug dealers..............

Thanks for your good humor LIA...

Seriously, I get it.

Been making a bit of $$ this past eight months for first time in my sports gambling career (Prior it was always small and always less than $1000 on any payouts)

My wife is a bit more cool with it, but I still have told her not to mention it to family.

She's like, "Don't worry, I won't."

She's cool with my "hobby" (as she still sees it) but wouldn't want her family to know about it.

To most folks, betting on sports is no different than Uncle Louie burning his life out at the horsetrack

Much like others have already stated, might as well leave the calendar at home, preferably in a place where the in-laws or someone else outside of your gambling circle won't see it.......it will only be a conversation starter for something you don't want to talk to someone else about.....if you want a conversation starter you might as well leave a mirror on the coffee table with a razor blade on top of it.

I got a hat and a shirt but if I wear them all that's going to happen is someone's going to ask about the source and then you're firmly going down a road you don't want to travel because of the stigma attached to gambling......doesn't matter if you win at gambling or not or whether you're middling or scalping books to death, anyone outside of the gambling world will not understand the math or low risk involved in arbitrage and just consider that you have some sort of problem regardless whatever level of control you maintain.

Someone else mentioned about taking it to work and maybe five friends will sign up and you'll get referral bonuses......nah, you'll just be thought of or branded as some out of control degenerate.......I have numerous friends that have gambled for decades, and out of that group I've only been able to convince two of my friends to go offshore, the rest of them seem perfectly pleased to get bent over by their local getting a line four days after it comes out with all the value beat out of it......I could write a book on the disadvantages of staying local while the upside only would contain a brief footnote. But that's another topic. I just listen to them b1tch about not getting a bet in because their man was gone, b1tch about bad lines or disputes or not getting paid, circled games and totals they can't bet because their out is too chickensh1t to hang complete numbers......skip the sales pitch, they're on their own......if they want to set up an offshore account they can bug me for it, when/if they choose to do so then I'll know they're more serious about trying to make a profit and I'll clue them in.....until then they can flop like a fish on the beach.
