Thinking about making a couple of future bets. Would like insight into teams and how you think your own teams will do. Start of the season is just around the corner.

Seattle imo only needed starters. and they went out and got 2 starters. I think we have not hurt our chances for this season with any of our off season movement, but we have seriously improved an area we have been hurting at for some time.

Good IMO.

They got worse this year by trading Dan Haren but they got more than fair value. Haren is so overrated right now it's funny.

They need someone on offense that can get on base. Seriously, they have more free swingers than anyone. Their offense will likely put up 12 runs one night and get blanked the next. Very iffy group of players, none of whom really draw walks.

Cubs still have the same pitching staff, which is probably good, Got this Fukodome guy, who will do who knows what, stood pat elsewhere.

White Sox got a GREAT SS in Cabrera, 2 great bull pen guys in Linebrink and Dotel and Added Swisher to the OF mix, Props to the White Sox

Twin took a huge loss in the offseason with the biggest loss of Johann Santana and we got nobody ready for the majors in 2008 in return. Losing Silva also hurt, but he was overpaid by Seattle as was Torii Hunter by the Angels who will be missed in cf and at the plate. Twins added Livan Hernandez who should pitch 200+ innings but will have an era over 5. If Francisco Liriano doesn't return to form, our starters are going to get roughed up this year. Our bullpin is solid and we have one of the best closers in Joe Nathan (unless they trade him since on last year of his contract).

Delmon Young was a good pickup and should put up decent #s, Twins hitting should be fine. Predicting the Twins will win 75 games this year.

The Rays looks like they could field the best team in their history. Still a few questions, and they obviously play in a tough division, but they should notch a few more wins this season. .500 ball is a legitimate possibility. Not exactly lofty expectations, but given that they haven't won over 69, that would be encouraging. Everyone from the GM on down is confident that their defense will be much better. I'll take a wait and see approach, but it's promising. Aki Iwamurra will move to second to make room for rookie Evan Longoria, who they expect to be the everyday 3Bman at some point this season. Aki was solid at third, and should lock down that side.

They are very high on SS Jason Bartlett(acquired from the Twins in the Delmon Young trade). Maddon commented that there were plays to be made season that he feels Bartlett will make. It looks like RF and DH will be a rotation of Baldelli, Gomes, and Floyd. They will continue to take it easy with Rocco, and I don't see Floyd in the field a lot, and Gomes isn't an everyday player in the field. IMO, they need Baldelli out there as much as possible. As good an arm as Young's. But he's missed, oh, around 600 games the last few seasons. Navarro is OK defensively, but offensively need to improve. Now. They signed Defilice, who will provide nothing on offense.

Starting pitching is solid. Garza(trade w/ Twins) gives them a solid number 3. Jackson looks to be the 4, and he came on strong last season after a terrible start. The bullpen overall was close your eyes ugly last season. This is where the rubber meets the road with this team. It looks to be vastly improved, but we will see. Vet pickup Troy Percival will be closing, with last year's closer Al Reyes setting up, and pick up lefty Tervor Miller a good addition to mix with Wheeler and Glover.

They should continue to score runs, and will be better defensively and pitching wise. They have added some good clubhouse vets to mix with the young talent, while ridding themselves of some locker room problems. Hard to put a number up there for a win total because there are still some ifs, but I think 80 wins is realistic.

More than you ever wanted to hear about the Rays.

Padres had a very strange offseason

Tadihito Iguchi is an upgrade offensively and defensively over Marcus Giles
Jim Edmonds is 3 yrs past his prime and I don't believe an upgrade over Mike Cameron although I've read reports that he's in great shape. Randy Wolf and Mark Prior would be a damn good #4 and #5 if they were healthy (HUGE if's). Prior not projected ready until at the earliest late May although he says he feels great.
Linebrink gone for a full season and Brocail will be missed in the pen.
Tony Clark solidifies the bench

Still big hole behind the plate with Bard/Barrett combo and absolutely NOBODY to play left field. Chase Headly, who is SD's #1 minor league prospect is a 3rd baseman being given the chance to win the LF job. Brian Giles coming off microfracture surgery (and presumably no more HGH).

With Peavy, Young, Maddux they could win the division again, or could finish 5th. Who the hell knows. This team will be lucky to have a single player steal 10 bases and gave up the most and highest % of steals in the league last yr

Gordon is done...hopefully Lidge will rebound...but didn't know about the Feliz signing...Howard won his arbitration case today! I'm a diehard fan, and I was impressed with their final run last year...we ran into a buzzsaw against Colorado...

Pedro Feliz... he may very well hit 35+ HRs in that tiny park of yours.

umm...the expos havent moved back to montreal yet

On a side note, the Nats' offense shouldn't be so pitiful since they moved into a slightly smaller park. More HRs at least. If their pitchers stunk it up in that huge park, it might be a very long year for them in a smaller park though.
