How did you guys get into gambling in the first place?

For me, I was about 16 or 17 and was posting at a fantasy football forum and someone put up the gambling lines. Of course me, being the know-it-all kid I was back then, started spouting off about how I could easily win 80% of these games because I was good at picking who would win games. I got dared, put up some cash, and proceeded to hit like 40% of my bets that first year. Oh well, you live you learn.

But that's how I got started. Anyone got any stories?

race track 14 years old..........had friend bet for me until i was a little older then made my own bets from 17 on never was asked for ID.......if i hit a signer just paid the stoops 10% to cash it..........first bet ive mentioned before lost 5 bucks on viking chief super bowl to the paperboy phillip gerber

I remember betting quarters on NFL playoff games with my mom. That's the first memory of betting for me.

I was 15 or 16 and working evenings and weekends at a drugstore. The owners were two brothers who were pretty cool and they would get parlay cards every week from the local. That's what got me started, picking a five or six teamer every week for a ten-spot.

I was intrigued by the point spread portion of the sports page.

The first game I bet was a Saints / Falcons Thursday night game.

I started 4 years ago, with a fellow co-worker of mine who claimed that September is the beginning of "money season". I asked him what he meant by that and he said its college football season. So I then asked him how much he makes during this time. He told me how he hit a 4 team parlay and took home 6k and my jaw dropped....haha. So I basically took $100 and said here make a bet for me cause I wanna make some extra cash.

He told me to go to bodog.com and make the wager there. So I called him up around 9am that Saturday and made a 2 team parlay on Hawaii +44 v USC & LSU PK vs Az St. I came home and thought my money was gone as Az St was up, and then I watched Russell lead his team to a 4th quarter winning drive.

I was hooked after that....took me about a year of football wagering to realize that parlays are not the way to make money.

first bet was Miami over Wash in Super Bowl XVII, I think I was 9 or 10. Lost $9 and had to take like a 2 month advance on my allowance to pay everyone.

I suppose I was technically gambling before that by flipping baseball cards and shooting them against the wall, but that was my first actual bet.

I used to get free parlays when I was young from my dad. He would put like $5 on a 5-teamer every week for me and I don't think i ever won them.

Freshman year in high school I went to a pool hall with my buddy and we had to wait for a table....some guy asked if he could play with us so i said sure (kind of like a b-ball court I thought)....

....shortly after we started he wanted to play for a little money....****** kicked it up 10 notches and took all my money, and more....he followed me to the atm after to settle the balance.
