Pete Rose bet the game and doesn't go the the Hof. If Clemons does in 5years; I will NEVER watch another game. It will hurt, but this is beyond insane!Will they go after him like they did Rose. This is what seperates so many of us old timers from those that saw Roger C.
Rose--if you watched him play the game--KNOW he played with all his heart. This was before the HUGE $$$$$$$$$ of Clemons and do what you have to!

Is it more important that a player bet on the game or took drugs that are banned? I can't say. But I can say--That Rose was hero--long before Roger threw a fastball inside the plate!!!!!!!

I look at it this way. He bet on the game. Rules say a no-no for him. But the biggest question I have, did he ever "fix a game to lose" and bet that way. I would find THAT unbearable! Have never read that claim. This guy bet horses and everything available. He is probably a classic for gamblers' anonomyous. But there is no doubting his play ON the field and base hits is a Legend that movies are made of. He has his faults, but Charlie Hustle has no equal!

I think the (poster) is speaking on his PRINCIPLE; not many of the US actually care today. I give my standing ovation and hope others join. When a kid ask --"why"? You probably can explain it clearer; why a person could use drups to cheat and be in the HALL, yet not for one that bet on the game since that was against the rule. Good luck and good lawyering.
