Yes, I'm a complete homer during baseball season. But 8-1 just seems incredible to me. A lot of question marks, but the Cardinals were big underdogs in 2004, and ran away with the National League. Who's going with me on this one?

Cubs suck.

I wouldn't touch it.

Pujols and Glaus are the only players worth anything on that team and both are likely going to miss alot of games. Pujols is not at 100% and has said he'll play until his injury requires surgery. Glaus is always dinged it seems and his power is going to go down quite a bit with the park switch. That offense will be very poor. The worst in the majors if Pujols does finally succumb to his injury that has been buggin him. Defense with Glaus at 3rd isn't going to be fun if that's how it ends up.

Without Carpenter healthy, and who knows what he has left, that pitching staff looks pretty poor. I'm big on Wainwright having a breakout year but but that staff looks haggard. Peniero, Looper, Reyes, and Mulder? Mulder is done, Reyes has no control, and Peneiro/Looper are castoffs. No one knows what Clement has and the answer is probably not much.

Even the bullpen looks iffy. Springer is 39 now and last year is not going to happen again. Franklin pitched out of his mind last year as well and you should see some regression from him as well.

All in all, they have a small shot because they play in baseball's most even division with no team expected to dominate. Still, I'd get 12-1 or better before I made any play.

Jake, I agree that it's a longshot. But there have been so many years that I was kicking myself by mid-May for not betting the over wins total for the season.

Clement and Piniero......potential. Many have had their careers turned around when they came to STL. Piniero was flat out solid for most of his two months with the Cards last year. Wainright is a stud. Looper is scary to me, but didn't look too bad for much of the year. Maybe, and this is the homer in me talking, maybe Reyes will finally be ready to be a MLB pitcher this year. And Carp will be back in July or Aug. I don't know that you can automatically say the offense will be terrible. If they can hit early and stay in the race, they should have a chance when Carpenter comes back. I don't think they'll have to be too good to just win this bad division. Getting +800 on a homer bet kind of makes it okay in my book. :lolBIG:

Somehow, someway the Cards usually are in the conversation. How they do it with this cast of characters, I am not sure.

Jake, I would be surprised if Pujols missed time. The media has blown the elbow thing way out. With the question marks we have we have guys that could perform awesome and put up big numbers potentially. Oh and the cubs suck. And I said WE. 11:1 sounds awesome may have to get some money in BM soon.

Mulder is done?

I have predicted his downfall since he left Oakland. He had a decent ERA when he got traded for Haren but his WHIP was spiraling out of control. Somehow he managed to have an even better ERA his first year in St Louis despite his WHIP approaching borderline crap levels. The last two years his ERA has finally fallen in line with his declining WHIP. He can't stay healthy and is going to miss a month of this season already. His stuff isn't where it used to be and he's much easier to hit. Look at these stats.

<table border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="1" width="100%"><tbody><tr class="tra"><td>2005</td><td>STL</td><td>32</td><td>32</td><td>16</td><td>8</td><td>0</td><td>205.0</td><td>212</td><td>90</td><td>83</td><td>70</td><td>111</td><td>3</td><td>2</td><td>3.64</td><td>1.38</td></tr><tr class="tro"><td>2006</td><td>STL</td><td>17</td><td>17</td><td>6</td><td>7</td><td>0</td><td>93.1</td><td>124</td><td>77</td><td>74</td><td>35</td><td>50</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>7.14</td><td>1.70</td></tr><tr class="tra"><td>2007</td><td>STL</td><td>3</td><td>3</td><td>0</td><td>3</td><td>0</td><td>11.0</td><td>22</td><td>17</td><td>15</td><td>7</td><td>3</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>12.27</td><td>2.64</td></tr></tbody></table>

So why should I take the Cards again? What was their offseason like?

HAHAHA!!!!!!!! THANKS FOR THE LAUGH....

They will be LUCKY to finish 3rd place this year let alone 1st. Please the Cubs and Brewers are in a whole other league when it comes to the NL Central. The Reds are the only other team I kinda sorta am worried about but their pitching outside Harang, and sometimes Arroyo is very shaky. Seriously though put down the crack pipe the Cards are BADDDDDDDD

Typical White Sox fan response... I find it hilarious how much Sox fans care about the Cubs. Dont get me wrong I hate the Sox but I could honestly care less about the White Sox at all. Sometimes it seems like Sox fans care more about the Cubs losing than their team own team winning

I take pleasure in knowing the hopes and dreams of Cubs fans, homo and heterosexual.. female and male.. prosperous and cheap.. young and old.. that their dreams are going to be sold by that cheap bastard Zell... that shithole landmark Ballpark is crumbling to pieces and that their trophy case is as empty as your fucking bankaccount

I'm not factoring him into the equation at all. I just don't know if he's ever going to be healthy. I heard the same shit last year out of him that he's saying now, about feeling good, etc. Yet, he admits now that he was in denial last year, and never really got healthy.

Cubs win the division by default, What the hell happened to St Louis since they won the WS? the team seems nothing like that which once was good. Lets see what Carpenter has after the injury..
