Looking for one, not looking for anything top of the line/too expensive, mostly wondering if you've recently upgraded and have one you're not using you'd like to sell, something like that.

Let me know,

Slim.

I dont want Slim bashing me for any more dumbass threads anymore!

You can buy a brand new laptop at Best Buy for around $450 plus $25 shipping to Florida. Who needs a used one when new ones are basically given away at that price daily?

Well including the shipping cost, just buy a new one.

Most used laptops will not have windows vista installed and might have undetectable problems. The hassle isnt worth it if you ask me.

Having said that, i have never heard of an IBM r40 laptop. How old would this laptop be and how much does a new IBM laptop cost? If the used one can be sold for around $225, then I guess that it is worth the risk and would save your a little money.

Slim, I wouldnt pay too much over $300 for a used laptop though if it is under 2 years old. If older than 2 years old, i wouldnt pay over $250

I agree with PO69, the price of lappys have come down so far, why would you want to buy someone elses problem?

I also agree with Santo, if you can find a lappy that is running XP, you are better off (altho this may be hard to find).

If you do go with a Vista lappy, make sure you get at least 2 megs of ram

Product description
Toshiba A215-S5825 Satellite 15.4" Widescreen Laptop
Features

Mid-size laptop: The Toshiba Satellite A215-S5825 is a mid-size laptop, with above-average processing power and everything most people need for basic computing, entertainment and online communication. This model features a powerful dual-core processor as well as premium features such as a DVD SuperMulti drive, 120GB hard drive and Windows Vista Home Premium.

Dual core/64-bit processing: The 1.8GHz Athlon 64 X2 TK-55 has two processing engines that work in tandem, providing much more power than standard 1.8GHz processors. This processor is also capable of processing 64 bits of information at once, twice as much as standard 32-bit processors. AMD PowerNow! technology enhances mobile performance and extends battery life.

This laptop features 1GB of DDR2 system memory—enough to handle everyday computing needs. DDR2 is slightly faster than DDR, the previous standard in system memory.
AMD employs HyperTransport technology, which works like a fully-integrated frontside bus that increases bandwidth, reduces bottlenecks and enables processors to work more efficiently. The end result is better performance.
Processors search for the same data over and over. L2 caches keep this data neat, organized, and nearby so it can be retrieved more quickly. This 512KB cache gives the processor a little boost.
Hard drive: This hard drive features a 120GB capacity—more than enough storage space for the average user. This drive’s data disks spin at 5400rpm. The faster they spin, the faster the data is read and written.

Go wireless: Built-in 802.11g wireless LAN gives you a fast connection to a wide range of networks and peripherals. 802.11g is backwards-compatible with 802.11b, so you can connect using the two most popular wireless standards.

DVD SuperMulti drive: Use this drive to burn DVDs and CDs to share your files, music mixes or home movies. You can even burn DVD-RAM discs—specially-formatted discs that let you drag and drop, or write and rewrite your files up to 100,000 times.

Widescreen display: This laptop features a bright 15.4" high-definition widescreen display with 1280 x 800 pixel (WXGA) resolution.

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit): Windows Vista Home Premium is the operating system for homes with advanced computer needs. And Vista Premium features the elegant new Aero interface. You’ll be able to use your laptop more effectively and enjoy new entertainment experiences—all with the benefit of added security and reliability.

Audio/video: This laptop features ATI Radeon X1200 graphics and 319MB of shared video memory, which is drawn from the main system memory. This video memory is perfect for everyday activities like casual movie watching or gaming. The built-in stereo speakers give your multimedia some extra kick.

Media card reader: Seamlessly transfer images from your digital camera or camcorder. This 5-in-1 reader is compatible with Secure Digital, xD, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and MultiMedia Card.

ExpressCard/54 slot: This laptop supports ExpressCard, an emerging standard in smaller, faster PC card solutions. This slot is compatible with ExpressCard/54 as well as ExpressCard/34—use it to add memory, graphics upgrades, security devices and more.

Software bundle:
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium, Works 9.0 and Office Home and Student 2007 Edition (60-day trial)
McAfee Internet Security Suite (30-day trial)
TOSHIBA Disc Creator, Speech System, ConfigFree, Extended Tiles for Windows Mobility Center and DVD Player
Sun Java 2 Runtime Environment
Adobe Acrobat Reader
Google Desktop, Toolbar and Picasa
Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5 for TOSHIBA

I have a laptop that came with the house I'm renting. Was locked in a hidden door that was painted over but I barreled my way in there. No power cord but the hidden room had a normal computer and the laptop just sitting in it. Good find.

I have a small part off one of my upstairs bedrooms that I haven't figured out how to get in. It is roughly 5 x 10 based on what's under roof.
