One thing to consider is that alot of the Royals' players have the flu right now.
Shawn Estes, the No. 2 starting pitcher for the Padres the last time he pitched for them, will face the Royals today in the club's Cactus League opener at Peoria Stadium. Estes had reconstructive elbow surgery in June 2006. He pitched in Triple-A last summer and had a few physical setbacks. He said he is pleased with how is arm has responded in the offseason and spring training.

Eric Chavez is out for the A's for the next 5 days or so.

The Rockies will start a couple of their top prospects -- center fielder Dexter Fowler and catcher Mike McKenry. ... The White Sox face the Diamondbacks at Tucson Electric Park. Lefty Mark Buehrle will start for the White Sox. Righty Octavio Dotel, who signed for two years and $11 million with the club during the winter, will make his White Sox Cactus League debut.
