Am I missing something here or are they building a replica (not exact replica, I'm sure there will be more skyboxes, etc.) of the old one. Looks almost exactly the same.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I think the Idea they were going for was a replica of the original Yankee Stadium, pre-renovation in the 70's (i think) From there they are making it modern with all the Luxury boxes, consessions etc.

From what I've seen it is going to be amazing. I think the price tag is approaching 800 million but I might be off on that.

Nothing wrong with that. Since Yankee Stadium is a part of baseball lore, I'd guess they would keep many of the same qualities.

I'd imagine Boston will do the same when they need to build a new Fenway.

I agree. For some reason I couldnt see a dome with a retractable roof being accepted.

On a side note, i'm making one last trip to Yankee Stadium in August to see the Yanks and Red Sox play.
