Yankee officials will monitor a workout held today for Henry Perez, a 16-year-old pitcher from the Dominican Republic who will be eligible to sign a professional contract on July 2. Perez is 6 feet 4 inches and 200 pounds, according to his agent, Rob Plummer. A major league executive confirmed that Perez does appear to be a front-line prospect. Perez's workout will take place at Legends Field, the Yankees' spring training home in Tampa, Fla., and the agent expects that representatives from as many as 25 to 28 teams will attend. Plummer also represents the pitcher Ricardo Aramboles, who signed with the Yankees last spring with a $1.52 million bonus before hurting his arm in the summer. BUSTER OLNEY
