If you order the Sports package you will get the local Fox Sports networks and other networks like YES, Prime Ticket, Fox Soccer, ESPNU, CSTV, VS, Gol, etc. (most of the channels in the 600s) However, you won't get any NBA, MLB or NHL games that are shown on those channels unless you order the MLb, NHL, NBA packages separately. You will, however, generally get the CBB and CFB games that those channels show. Occasionally, but rarely, they also black out a CBB or CFB game. I haven't yet been able to figure out when or why. As to spring training games, I don't know if those will be shown, but what I say above is true about regular season games.

They do give you a free week or two week pass at the beginning of each season and usually the week after the all star break for their NHL, NFL and NBA packages, but I think they show the games in the 700s and not the 600s.

Every area has a regional market where you get in-market games. You can get the sports pack and view a ton of out-of-market collegiate and amateur sports, but 99% of the professional games are blacked out, so say if you don't live around Cincinnati and want to see a Reds game that isn't on ESPN or ABC or whatever, you won't be able to see it on the sports pack and your best bet is you pay the $200 or whatever it is for the MLB Extra Innings Package. As far as the Yankees games, they are carried alot on ESPN and ABC and CBS and whatnot, but if they are not, they are played on the Yes Network. To get those games, you'd have to live in or around New York or they will be blocked out to you.

PS, I hate DirecTV.

that would change if you didn't have it

Canceled it a few weeks back and couldn't be happier. Nothing but problem after problem with that company. The lies I was told are just astounding looking back. Horrible customer service. I'll never go back, even if it means not getting the NFL Sunday Ticket. The bar is right down the road...

their CS has gone to crap. WHat happened that made you so unhappy? Their programming is definitely better than the alternatives, same w/ pricing.

Posted about it a month ago. Here is the copy/paste.

"Was offered 12 months of premier channels, NFL Sunday Ticket, and Nascar Hot Pass for 69.99 a month plus receiver fees, hd fees, etc.

Took them almost 4 months to fulfill my request to bill separately from Qwest.

When they finally did it they charged an early cancellation fee.

Was told it would be waived on 4 different phone calls and it never happened until the 4th.

After 4 months the price of my bill went up about $40 or so. They said the package I signed up for was only 4 months so they lied to me on signup.

On 3 of those 4 calls where I was promised the fee would be waived, they told me they'd send me an updated bill to show why my charges rose cause no one from the overseas call center could explain why and they had no clue.

DirecTV never updated my address even though they did the movers connection so all these updated bills were being sent to my old address.

The overseas guys, on top of promising to waive the late fee, also promised to give me a chance to look at my bill before i made payment since they couldn't explain the thing.

I get home one day and service is off. I call up and am told I have like $300 in past due fees. I learn that the cancellation fee was never waived. They waive it for me. I am left with like $30 in past due which I agreed to pay to turn it back on.

The lady tells me that she'd be happy to turn it back on but she wants the full bill of $30 past due and $200 current charges. I ask about the current charges, she tells me that I am paying full price for everything. The overseas people told me I would get 3 additional months of premium channels because I was lied to. Never happened.

This lady tells me she can get me 3 months of premiums but I have to pay my bill in full. I tell her I'll pay the past due and then pay the rest in a week when my paycheck comes in. She says no go. I tell her I will disconnect if she can't do it because it's been one fuck up on their part on top of another. She says pretty much "fine you can disconnect". I said give me 3 days to figure out if I want to do this or not. She says thats fine.

In those 3 days, I get another cancellation fee as well as a letter from a debt collector for DirecTV. All I asked were 3 days to think about it.

I call up and bitch and tell them there is no way they can charge me an early cancellation fee since they didn't honor the offer I agreed to which was the basis of the early cancellation fee. I tell this guy I'm talking to once again if he wants to keep me as a customer, he'd accept my payment on the $30 past due and turn on my services. He says he can't do that. He says my only option at this point to remove that cancellation fee is to manually mail a department of theirs and wait a month for a reply. They have no phone or email apparently in this mysterious department.

Anyway, he wants me to write a handwritten note to them and wait a month.

I tell him thanks for nothing and I'm leaving DirecTV and how ridiculous it is to lose a customer that pays over $100 a month on time and who orders all the UFC PPVs at like $50 a pop over a $30 past due that was caused by DirecTV's ineptness.

Oh, and I left out the whole ordeal that took over a week to find my account so I could make my first payment. I won't even get into that but it took over 20 phone calls.
