This is not officially out on DVD until March 11. Don't ruin it for us!

Absolutely one of the weaker "Best Pictures" in years. Not on my top 100 of all-time either.

Wasn't nearly as good as "The Departed", but then again "The Departed" couldn't hold a candle to "Letters From Iwo Jima".

I thought the movie had some groundbreaking film making and direction..But the end left me very cold and unsatisfied.. I'm curious if they had an alternate ending in the works that they just didn't use..I can't believe the Coen's thought this was going to work with the public...Everybody I know that has seen the movie say the same thing, "what the hell happened to the ending?" They ought to go back and reshoot it for a later version of DVD..That would be the only way that I think it can justify winning an academy award.

have to dance around this carefully for those who have not read the book or seen the movie BUT Cormac McCarthy handles the ending the same way the Coen brothers handled it.

i have read the book and actually went back over several parts towards the end multiple times in order to try and get a grip on it.

i believe what McCarthy is doing, and the Coen brothers are true to his novel, is giving you a hierarchy of the characters and who you think is at the top is truly at the bottom by the end...

not sure if that makes sense but when looking at it the way it was written the movie is brilliant, as is the book.

I'm not sure just by watching the movie and not reading the book that most people are going to come away from that movie thinking it was a hierarchy of the characters theme. But I do agree that the movie, sans the ending, is brilliant in places.

probably not the first time but it is clear the way they handle certain things that some people are not as important as others...

regardless for me it was outstanding.

of course i am not sure what the line about the departed was as that was one of my fave movies to watch.

Both The Departed and American Gangster were both mid-grade at best here at the Bar n Grill

I confess to being rather beaten down in past year or so seeing a good feature film.

The shame about the great directors like the Coen's or Martin Scorsese is that their movies haven't gotten recognized sooner..Scorsese especially..Raging Bull and Goodfellows were clearly the best films of his career, and should taken home the brass for best films.. And they were both better films than The Departed. But people have generally always been turned off by graphic violence in movies until the last couple years with No Country and the Departed getting best pictures.

Hated the ending myself. Good movie but the ending pissed me off as many others in my group and others in the movie theater.

Very good Movie with a Shitty Ending.
