Ironic that tennis was promoting a scripted match to boost up its ratings

Absolute garbage of a match and both actors played a fine script. A disgrace to sports in general though.

Didn't watch any of it, but said as much that the books were smart not taking action on this "exhibition" in another thread.

I was actually telling myself that books were foolish not to open up this game when sampras was up 5-2 in the third, and then fed just took over.

He was playing with a rolex on his wrist lol.

apparently its in his contract that he has to do so for exhibitions.

He made a million dollars for that match. Not bad for 2.5 hours work. Besides its bad for business if he blows him out. Why would anyone pay to see that going forward. If he keeps Sampras in the match he can collect those million dollar check's a couple of times a year for basically playing a friend.

Federer should concern himself with winning a tournament in '08 rather than these nonsense money-grabbing exhibition matches

my feelings on the man have slowly changed for the worse. He has always stated its 'about the tennis' and the 'more people you surrond yourself with the less it becomes about the tennis'---yet his actions over the past 8 mths don't echo this

btw Roger, Andy handled you quite comfortably recently, better be careful or that numero uno status may crumble

watched the match last night, haven't seen the other one.....it was apparent to me that roger was tanking during parts of the match. he would hit a bunch of errors one game then come back and hit 4 aces...wtf!?!?

i think he's got his mind on tennis . he was on his way to california and stopped in new york for a night of tennis to entertain millions of fans. big friggin deal...

the guy is coming off having mono for the past 2 months.

the guy who beat him in the aussie open happens to be pretty good.

you think tiger woods plays in dubai and tailand for the golf ? no, he gets about 3 million to show up.

it isnt like federer stopped everything he was doing and trained solely for this match against pete.

as far as him tanking a few points , the court was a little tricky for both guys. some terrible bounces. and he only rattled off 4 aces that one time.

again , take it for it was worth. a great night of tennis.
