My Jack Russell Cooper has a pulled muscle in his front left leg, and can barely put pressure on it.
He hobbles when he walks, and often 'hangs' the leg.
He's only 4 1/2.
Is there anything I can do, or does he just have to ride it out?

One thing you should do is buy "pet stairs" so your dog doesn't attempt to jump on couches, beds, etc... with a bad leg.

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

at least he is hung

Actually I would take him to a vet. Get some imaging and make sure it isnt worse. Plus they can give you some heavy duty pain meds.

did u take him to the vet?

Not yet, he can walk, but hobbles, but doesn't wince in pain or anything, other dog owners says it's a pull.
Cooper is very healthy otherwise.

Not trying to be a dick but if your kid was hobbling around would you wait a few days? My dogs are treated like my kids see a vet unless your friends that said it was a sprain is a vet. :toast:

Ride it out?

They will probably have to put him down.

Jesus Christ, take him to the vet :think2:

Feel around to make sure it's not dislocated or some hidden trauma. If nothing, give him a few days. They're tough enough dogs.

You know your dog ....if you dont see improvement in the next day or two take him in.Dogs have a high tolerance for pain.I would pu some slight pressure on it see if he winces or pulls back......hope it turns out for the best

Take him to the vet, you cheap ass. Don't give him any meds as it may interfere with your vet's diagnostic procedures.

Now, if there's absolutely no way your dog can get checked any time soon, try hosing the leg with cold water for 10 minutes, 3-4 times a day.
