per the Matchbook site...

<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td rowspan="2" style="padding-top: 2px;" valign="top" width="1">
</td> <td style="border-bottom: 1px solid black; color: red; font-family: verdana,arial; font-size: 12px; height: 1px;" nowrap="nowrap">MATCHBOOK BASEBALL: THE 1% SOLUTION</td> </tr> <tr> <td style="font-size: 12px;" valign="top"> Matchbook is bringing back 1% commissions for the 2008 baseball season. That means trades will continue to clear at -103 by -103 or better (usually much better), and that's after commission.</td></tr></tbody></table>
And obviously the more liquidity the better too...

great for trying to call line moves too. Commission on only net win, if you take a lead, then buy the other side. Money gets freed up also when you buy back.

Very, very good point here.

A lot of good potential here, should get awesome volume.

Here's why its so great for a guy that accurately predict just line movements.

say a guy plays $100 a game normally, but is good at moves

a game is a pick, say Boston at NYY -101 either way, he's confident NYY will be at least a -110 fav by gametime.

dude can bet $1,000 or more on NYY at -101, then take back Boston later for +109.

He could make his $100 on the game, without even picking the winner, as long as he can correctly nail the line move.

This is how you have to scalp now, not really a scalp, as its not real time.

No way to move money quick, so you need to try other ways.

IMO, picking which way the line will move is easier than picking winners.

very much agree..... the term I like to use is "forecasting". Of course, it doesn't always work, and sometimes you will have to buy back at a loss.... but if you can "forecast" successfully at least 60% of the time, you should be doing quite well...

There is not much liquidity over night with Matchbook however, so in all likelihood players should "take the lead" with Greek, CRIS, 5dimes or Pinny and then look to buy back LATE at matchbook where the liquidity is Super tight.....

Greek and CRIS despite the 20 cent line are valuable as you will get the earliest lines, and even with the high spread, you should be able to profit.

My problem is I cannot forecast MLB too well.... but can in NHL.

Use DSI instead of CRIS/Bookmaker, same place with a dimeline, much like Jamaica/Greek.

I can predict baseball line moves fairly well.

I also think MB may get some improved overnight offers this season.

You don't even have to be right 60% of the time, as long as when you're right , you are really right.

You could average being right by 12 cents 35% of the time, and wrong by a cent or two 65% of the time, and be fine.

Just monitoring movements is likely good enough, seems to me baseball keeps steaming one way, and rarely reverses.

You do need a feel for it, and starting with the earliest lines helps a lot, to maximize moves... if you are initially correct.

What will be interesting is to see how early the MM's get lines up.NBA and NHL is generally not up before 11.30am or so ET even on Sundays now, which doesn't let you get any of the early lines.
