and more interesting, how do you "fairly" spread out your assets, lets say you have a few kids, is it done by who you felt was well behaved? treated u ok, was a good kid etc?

I wrote the first version of mine at 22. Any age you have a preference how your assets should be distributed is the answer.

make sure you are very specific in your will about who gets what(even some little trinket or dishes I mean everything), what you want done for your funeral(even what clothes they should bury you in, what kind of casket you want)...cover everything otherwise it can be an absolute nightmare.

As early as possible, I would say 18 at the absolute latest. And update it often

As early as you have assets that may need to go to someone. You do not want the state to get involved. And if you are married and have kids asap as well..You never know what the next day may hold.

So everyone knows, FH is under 50 and figures drawing the line here helps lock some bonus years ahead.

As an about to be 48yr old, I endorse this strategy and will raise him to "55".

peeps, whats your opinion on when some rich folks gives a lump some to a cat or dog, and even more to a caretaker, and pittons to family, I do know that some families abandon their sibling but sometimes the person decided to have a caretaker and you went on with your life

Though I do suggest writing down, videotaping and perhaps buying a lifetime billboard on a major freeway to state cleary your personal intentions if you're ever determined to be in a Persistent Vegatative State.

Don't let yourself get jobbed over like Terri Schiavo did by her parents and other freaks.

It's there prerogative. If the government settle it (in the UK), it will be divided amongst the closest living relatives (where 2 or more are equal, or the sum to the nearest). Most people want to divide amongst a higher number.

It's actually quite interesting when you come to do it, in that you effectively have to prioritise the people in your life to create an ordered list. I was single when writing mine (and am still unmarried) so it goes something like parents, sister, friend A, more distant relatives, charity, with instructions in the first two cases to help A if needed.
