Stephen Curry was very impressive yesterday during 10th seeded Davidson's huge upset over 2nd seed Georgetown in Raliegh NC on Sunday. Curry scored 25 of his 30 points in the second half leading Davidson from a 17-point second-half deficit back to a shocking upset over No. 2 seed Georgetown that sent the Hoyas packing by a score of 74-70. The win allowed the Wildcats to advance to the Sweet 16 riding a 24 game win streak.

Davidson's last loss was on Dec 21st. at NC St, 66-65, they also lost to Duke 79-73, North Carolina 72-68 at UCLA 75-63 and at NC Charlotte 75-68 all during November and December.

Stephen Curry celebrates after buzzer sounds against Georgetown on Sunday.

Before anyone crowns Stephen Curry to be the best Curry to ever lace up a pair of sneakers they should take a look at his dad's career.

Dell Curry, after becoming the first player to ever have his jersey retired at Virginia Tech played ten of his 16 NBA seasons with The Charlotte Hornets and currently ranks among the franchise's all-time statistical leaders in points, games played, three-point field goals made and attempted, and three-point field goal percentage.

Frequently a top NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award vote getter Dell won the trophy after the 1993-94 season with Charlotte.

Dell Curry also also played one season for The Utah Jazz who drafted him 15th overall in the 1986 draft out of Virginia Tech, where he was voted into Hokie Atheletic Hall of Fame after graduating the Hokies all time leading scorer (at the time) in 1985..

For some reason Utah decided to deal him to The Cleveland Cavs after only one season out west, Curry then played just one season in Cleveland before being quickly grabbed in the 1989 Expansion Draft by the the brand new Charlotte Hornets where Dell starred for ten long seasons.

Curry also played a season with The Milwaukee Bucks and three seasons for The Toronto Raptors at the end of his career.

Dell Curry holds career averages of 11.7 points per game and 40.2 percent from three-point range.

Dell Curry is the all-time leading scorer for the Charlotte Hornets franchise to this day.

Curry was the last remaining member of the original Charlotte Hornet team first fielded in the 1988-89 NBA season to play in the NBA...

Dell Curry ended up his career with 12,670 points in 1083 regular season games. His .476 three point field goal % led the NBA during the 1998/99 season.

Hopefully Stephen Curry will turn out to be as good if not better than his old man. Only time will tell..

Next up for Davidson and it's prolific sophmore with his 25 PPG scoring average is the defensively tough and 3rd. seeded Wisconsin Badgers on Friday March 28th at Ford Field in Detroit...

Good kid and good parents. As I get older I find myself rooting more for kids like this from good families and less for the more talented thuggish types.

great read..they live about 2 miles down the road from me and see them out often...the nicest people you ever want to come in contact with...found it funny how young stephen looked out there with all those other players..i just read the washington post and noticed they were bitching about the "home crowd"...ANYONE with half a brain knows that any crowd anywhere (except georgetown itself) would have been cheering for the underdog...also the distance in driving miles for these 2 schools was about 80 miles or so.....i guess the people of georgetown could not afford the extra 4 or so gallons of gas it would have taken them to get there...

Hes a scrawny looking mommas boy.. He's toughing it out with the best of em in the tourney though..

I didn't have hopes for the kid as I was calling for Davidson to get beat by the highest deficit.. ouch :nopityA:

You are dead wrong about this. They are playing in a home state as a 10 seed. They got all of the regular UNC people rooting for them as they are a underdog state school. Do you think if this game was in NYC or Chicago there would have been so much support??? Maybe a bit more then normal but not like a home game environment that it was...

I made this statement well before the game... Article is spot on... No way a 10 seed deserves to play in state...

It’s all good. I agree that the crowd would be pro Davidson at many arenas. But I think being in UNC made it that much worse. But what from the article say and what I think are not opinion but fact is that under no circumstances should a 10 seed be playing in state 150 miles from there campus in the first 2 rounds. It’s and unearned advantage that should only be given to top seeds. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The article give says that Gtown lost the game and give props to Davidson. But it also says which is evident that Davidson was playing a home game when it came to crowd and refs… I agree with that and statistics support the same…

Regardless, if Gtown has less turnover they would win so they have no one to blame but themselves…

Agree that G'town got hosed having to play this game in N.Carolina.

I don't understand why everyone is all of a sudden jumping on the Davidson bandwagon. This team wins one game and all of a sudden they are such a "great story." If this game were played 10 times, G'town wins 8 of them. Davidson is going to get road-grated against Wisconsin.

How about the game Curry had against Gonzaga last Friday. He hit 8 of 10 from beyond the arc and scored 30 of his teams total of 40 second half points in a 82-76 Davidson win over the 7th seeded Zags.

Curry made 14 of 22 shots overall from the floor and his two free
throws with 15 seconds left iced the game for the Wildcats. The now 6" 3' guard finished with 40 points with five steals and only 2 turnovers. The Zags blew two 11 point leads during the game, one in each half.

Curry has grown 4 inches since he graduated high school, which is the main reason none of the big programs (including Dell Curry's Alma Mater Virginia Tech) went after him as a senior in high school. To small they said..

Singlehandely sophmore Stephen Curry has put Davidson basketball back on the map after a 40 year absence.

Wisconsin is a 4.5 point favorite this Friday at Ford Field in Detroit over the Wildcats.

Personally I don't expect Davidson to win the game against a very tough defensive Badger squad but will be rooting for them to continue to play Cinderella for at least one more game.

G'town 20 turnovers compared to 4 for Davidson.. Still can't believe that stat.. I agree Davidson is dodging bullets. Wisky should handle business:toast:

Wisconsin, as a No. 3 seed, also has a bit of "Cinderella" in them, if you want to play that card. The Badgers aren't ever mentioned among the North Carolinas, Kansasas, Dukes, etc...
