id substitute 'biggest collapse' in recent tournament history for 'best game'.

arizona just shit all over themselves that night.

illinois playing a pseudo-home game there. should never have had to play from behind like that considering how the deck was stacked in their favor.

crowd was electric though.

Guess you are too young to remember NC State-Houston in 1983. Because winning the championship on a 40-foot alley-oop dunk at the buzzer is not very exciting.

1974 National Semifinals (North Carolina State 80, UCLA 77 in 2OT)

The final in N.C. State’s home state at Greensboro win over Marquette 76-64 was anticlimatic after the Wolfpack avenged an 18-point loss to UCLA earlier in the season on a neutral court by ending the Bruins’ 38-game playoff winning streak. N.C. State erased an 11-point deficit midway through the second half and a seven-point deficit in the second extra session behind David Thompson’s 28 points and 10 rebounds to halt UCLA’s string of seven consecutive NCAA championships.

Bill Walton, David Thompson, Tom Burleson, David Myers, Keith (Jamal) Wilkes, Margues Johnson, and Tim Stoddard (pitched 14 years in MLB) are some of the great players who played in this classic 1974 NCAA semifinal game.

Still can't say anyone posted a game they were SURE was over, yet have a team like Illinois come back and win it when they had no business of winning it.

Yeah, I'm waiting for someone to show me another regional final or further with a team down 15 points with under 4 minutes to go. 15 points and 4 minutes is clear the arena time.

My personal favorite, cuz I was at courtside, was Wisconsin-Green Bay's upset of California in Ogden, Utah in the first round of the 1994 tournament. Dick Bennett was then a no-name coach with a bunch of no-name players who beat California with Jason Kidd and Lamond Murray. Bennett clearly outcoached Cal's Bozeman in the game.

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

I hate this time of year because they always show that play....man I was just 15 and was Phi Slamma Jamma proud...one of the worst feelings only to have the same thing happen when the Houston Oilers blow a 35-3 lead in the playoffs vs Buffalo (which they replayed last night on the NFL network):ohno::sad3:

I don't remember this, but on the same day Illinois rallied past Arizona, Louisville zipped past West Virginia... the three-year anniversary of both games is Wednesday....

In the NCAA men’s basketball regional finals, Louisville and Illinois make tremendous comebacks to force overtime and advance. Louisville, trailing by 20 to West Virginia, completes an amazing come-from-behind 93-85 win. Illinois, trailing by 15 with just 4 minutes to play, goes on a dazzling 20-5 run to send Arizona to a crushing 90-89 defeat.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

That game still haunts me to this very day. Losing the next year to Georgetown in the title game not even close. Man, what talent those teams had.
