My company is losing over half of its business as our main client has purchased another HUGE company to do the job that we do for them in the financial services sector.

Anyways, pretty sure that me and a few others are going to be jobless in a couple of mths, and I hate looking for jobs...

What's the best approach? Seems like monster and careerbuilder leads have never produced anything for me. I've been in contact with a recruiter (who I found through a co worker), but he hasn't done dick for me.

Thanks

craigslist is an option. Just seems like every other listing is a scam.

And I know that knowing someone is the best way to get a job. Tried that..guy I know got me an interviewe with a hedge fund..heard nothing back. They were telling me that most of their employees were perfect SAT kids or ivy league...must have just been a courtesy interview.

And I had a real good in for a pharm. sales rep spot with Lilly...was supposed to get an interview, but the mgr cold calls me out of nowhere and gives me an over the phone interview-which I did below avg on. His consensus-which makes since-was that he was going to go with someone who has more pharm sales experience (i.e. someone from Wyeth-who just laid off 5000 peeps).

i am not participating in this recession :money8:

Every one should have this attitude. As far as finding a job, your best bet is to avoid the Internet sites and start calling on any professional contacts/friends/old college professors you've made. That always works best for me. You can't beat networking.

Falls, you seem like a pretty sharp dude and I doubt you will have much trouble finding a job.

Being in Tejas, maybe you could look for positions at the various energy based companies in your area.

Those are the co.s i've been browsing today...mainly oil/nat. gas. Seems like this sector is topping, and the last thing I want is instability..instablility seems to put your life plans on hold. But I like the energy sector in general, and that is most likely where I'll look. :coke:

i would eventually like to trade energy or commodities...which are near impossible positions to get.
