Got this from team website

1. Skip Schumaker
2. Ryan Ludwick
3. Albert Pujols
4. Troy Glaus
5. Rick Ankiel
6. Yadier Molina
7. Cesar Izturis
8. Adam Wainwright
9. Aaron Miles

TLR going with the righties with Francis going for Colorado. Only two lefties in the lineup are Schumaker and Ankiel with Miles being a switch hitter. Skip Schumaker had a great spring and won the starting job and lead-off role. Cards have the best bullpen in baseball IMO of course I'm a bit of a homer but I will be on the Cards tomorrow. With potential to put up 4 30 homer guys there should be a bit more thunder produced from the lineup so hopefully our starters can stay in the game a little longer and not tax our bullpen early in the season.

Weather permitting tomorrow...and it looks like a real stinker for the opener...but...

I like the Cards to beat the Rox too. If Glaus can stay healthy...Pujols should have a huge season. He is a major upgrade over what Rolen offered at the plate...

Played the Birds at +102.

Chris Duncan

BTW...TLR will bat his pitcher 8th again...all season long. He announced it a while back that he would do it again.

Apparently the Cardinals won't be the only team...when Yost starts Kendall, I believe he will bat his pitcher 8th and Kendall 9th.

Have also heard that Melvin is going to bat Owings higher in the order when its his turn.

GL Tony looks like I have it at a pick at my out right now. 9 seems a little high on the total but I'm going to stay away from totals as much as possible seem to never win on those.

Same to you...

You may want to consider sending a little something over to WSEX...they have real nice lines for bases. That is where I got the +102

Izzy, Franklin, Springer are all solid. Lefties in Johnson and Flores who were both hurt last year and Johnson is this year again should have better seasons than they did last year. Josh Kinney will be back sometime early in the season he is nasty. When the starters get back from injury that will move Thompson and Wellemeyer into the bullpen which will give the bullpen guys 2 more arms to help with any innings needed to be picked up. Barring injury this is one of the best if not the best in the majors.

Springer had a career year and most likely will regress to how he normally performed in his long career. Same with ryan franklin. Johnson and Flores had a great postseason 2 years ago but thats about it. Theres really nothing telling me any of these pitchers will get better or perform as well as they did last year. If springer and franklin were youngsters then yah maybe they improved and figured it out. but they are seasoned vets and most likely had a freak year.

maybe you are right but without guys like carp and mulder healthy the cards look pretty below average to me

I agree that both Springer and Franklin had career years last year but really think they can come up with around the same stats this year. Both of the lefties pitched well pretty well early if I remember right but were used way to much and both had tired arms. Johnson may not pitch all year though we will see. Izzy was actually healthy for a whole year and got actually work out this offseason instead of rehab he should be strong this year. He worked on cardio in the offseason because he said he got tired at the end of the year last year. I could be wrong but I think they will be solid and the starters will shape up nicely if Mulder returns to the A's form not the last few years form and Carpenter actually comes back and can pitch like himself think they will be a good second half team as long as they can keep it close until then.

I would say the Cards are average but don't think that anyone in the central looks all that strong. Hopefully those guys will be back and dominate.

Good luck with your season always look at your plays before I make my selections o' the day.

With Carpenter and Mulder out until the All-Star break their bullpen is going to have to be better than good.

If LaRussa gets this team to the playoffs he will not only be manager of the year but a candidate for sainthood. I think they will be lucky to win 75 games.

By the way Francis had an excellent spring and I believe the line shows the respect for the Rockies in this situation. Rockies will put up plenty of runs this year against pitchers as good as Wainright.

Mulder is on track to be back in May. That being said he was suppose to be back last year before he came back. Thompson and Wellemeyer pitched well in the rotation when they got the chance but they both got hurt after only making a handful of starts. The Cards will score runs this year if Schumaker plays like he did the last 2 months of last year and in ST the middle of the order will have big numbers.

Mulder is the Cardinals version of Mike Hampton. He is developing a history for spending more time on injured reserve than being available on any kind of consistant basis. Eckstein, Rolen and Edmonds were leaders on this team and they are gone. Think it will be a while before your Cardinals are contenders again.
