St Patty's day I was stuck in O'Hara airport on my way to Evansville IN for a meeting the next day. There was 4 guys and a lady waiting in the bar for the same flight and we struck up a great conversation.

Turns out it was this band, their manager and the managers wife. Now I'm 42 so I had never heard of them, but they were cool as could be, we ended up getting pretty drunk waiting 3 hours for our plane.

John and Dale were more talkative while Shaun was reserved (Dale was fairly toasted). Good guys that you would never have known were famous.

I saw them live a few years ago as an opening act for Audioslave and they blew everyone away. They put on a tight and powerful live show and throw in some wicked covers as well....they played Nirvana - Drain You and then brought the fucking house down jamming on the riff from Pantera's Cowboys from Hell. I went out and bought their album the next day.

We were in the bar and the flight delay was only being updated in 15 minute intervals so I was having a drink then checking the status, they were doing the same thing. I just off the cuff ordered a round and sat with them and struck up a conversion about the delay. Like I said I had no idea who they were except some crazy looking guys and a couple had funny accents.

I didn't know they had a penny between them, so I ordered another round then they said they would get the next ones. We had been doing this for almost an hour before I knew they were a band. But at this point I was thinking starving artist kind of band, not Rock Stars...Dead serious they had no pretense or arrogance at all. It wasn't until we were getting on the plane that I found out they were big time, with a full tour etc.
