OT: Programmable Dishnetwork Cards or FTA

ok guys, now that mlb is here, i need some help

my limited experience with a pansat box was a nightmare -- no guide, endless searching for gms, etc

buddy of mine has a dishnetwork box with a card a friend programs when it goes down. this programming of the card opens up the regional Fox channels so he can watch MLB

2 questions: are these types of setups easy to find online, and if so where ?? also, who can give me the guide to doing this stuff on my own ?

or , should i go to an expensive FTA reciever ? will it have a guide, is it fairly easy to program etc. ?? also, because where i am, i don't get the 110 transponder, only 119

all of this because i am in costa rica and i can't get any mlb thru current dishnetwork subcription

not sure about the plastic cards but i have a fta and my receiver has a program guide. The manufacturer is viewsat, they make good stuff. If it goes down sometimes you have to wait a day or 2 for a fix but once it comes out you can download it and put the file on a usb stick and plug it into the front of the receiver, its very easy. They go for about $179 new. Don't look on ebay either, get one from a dealer so you do not get a cheap knockoff that will not work after an update. Go to ftaforall dot net and they have all the info in the forums

also should tell you that rumor is dish net is doing a card swap within the next year and once they implement it the fta's may not work, no one is sure until they implement it
