I'm getting the blue screen of death every time I try and turn on my desk top.

Here is what it's saying to me(short version):

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

Check to be sure you have adequate disc space, if a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check w/manufacturer.......

Check w/hardware vender for BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching and shadowing..........

Beginning dump of physical memory.
Physical memory dump complete.
Contact systems administrator or tech support.

I have turned desk top on and tried to start in safe mode. No luck.

Have I totally fucked the computer up and should I start hitting it with a hammer? I'm my own tech support which isn't saying much.

Any help from anyone smarter than me(just about anyone on this blog) would be appreciated.

Actually, I don't think it's the end of the world. The first error code indicates incompatible memory(they do go bad), but the others hint at a bios issue(dead motherboard-not good), or a drive going bad.

If it's just the memory, that's a cheap fix. If it's the motherboard, you're probably looking at just buying a new machine(get XP, not Vista-you won't regret it). If it's the drive going bad, the Best Buy\Circuit City guys can usually recover what's on the drive unless it really, really went bad.

Regardless, it's going to cost you a couple bones-but I doubt that you'll lose everything that was on it.

Your BSOD errors don't make sense. Look at this picture.

BSOD-0p6b.png

Most important info is the first code right after STOP: (in this case its 0x0000050). What is that number? Is it changing everytime? Does it mention a file name (in this case the last line is spcdmon.sys?

Most likely its simply your registry is corrupted and you need to reinstall. If the code says otherwise, it could be hardware which you probably should just get new system unless its under warranty. But most likely problem can be fixed by reinstalling windows.

I really just want to get my pictures off the machine(whole wedding albmum not backed up...FUCK!) and have no problem purchasing a new pc. I may try and buy a new memory thingy and if that doesn't work, it's time for a new pc.

Thanks!

How do I bypass the blue screen of death to re-install windows? I tried to boot up in safe mode and it just kicks me to the blue screen of death. I'm a little computer illiterate.........

This can get a little tricky, but if you have more than 2 memory sticks, try removing them 1 or 2 at a time. Some machines require them in pairs, others are totally independent of each other and can be removed 1 at a time.

It's worth a shot, because that's what your first stop code hints at.

1. If you want to reinstall windows, its very simple, but that involves DATA loss which you don't want to do.

2. You can try a REPAIR install. If all goes well, your data won't be lost, and it gives you chance to get your shit off before you do a complete reinstall. But there is slight chance you will lose your data if you do it wrong. Here are instructions.

3. If you data is extremely important, I won't fuck around with that repair install. If you have a buddy with a computer and knows a thing or 2, you can take your HDD out and put it in another computer, and then backup your shit. Then you can reinstall windows. If you don't have anbody who knows how to do this, then you are probably going to have to take it to best buy, local shop and get charged 200$ to backup your shit. Only ask for backup as to reinstall windows is very easy and you can save your self 100$.

If I do a complete reinstall and the HD is bad, won't this happen again?

When I turn on the computer, it looks like it's booting up, my desktop picture comes up with all my icons and things I like to click on and poof, the blue screen pops up.

My question now is, how do I get it to get past this blue screen so I can work on the problem and perhaps perform a repair?

Without knowing the error code is anybodies guess. Your best bet is to put to safe mode. Go to MSCONFIG-Select startup (uncheck load startup). Reboot. Don't do anything but backup your shit. Once you got your stuff backed up, I recommend reinstalling windows completely with data loss.

What type of system do you have (maker/os..). If you reinstall and you still getting same shit to come up, then is hardware for sure. What did you do to get to work/?

That's the problem I guess. I hit the F2 or F12 or F8, can't remember and the gray colored screen pops up. I switched it to Safe Mode and it starts to boot up and the blue screen pops up again. I can't seem to get past it. I think it's all fucked up.

Will have to try and figure out how to get someone to put the hard drive in another computer and pull off some of the pictures I want.
