Oakland Under 8.5..............2.2/2

Rematch of the fake season opener in Japan where the A's had the lead 4-3 going into the 9th until Street took the mound. I didn't wake up to watch that game but I did read the recap and I'm sure everyone knows how that game went. There are a few things I do know going into this game. Dice K is having problems with his control and has been unable to work long innings through spring into the opener. He walked 5 batters but only gave up 2 hits, 1 of which was a HR. Blanton was not known for pitching on the road last yr (5.11era) but he was stout at home (2.69era) so I have to say he pitched pretty well in Japan. Dice-K is plenty capable of dominating a rather weak offensive A's team and that is concerning. On the road last year Dice-K actually pitched a little better than at home (4.08/4.86). Dice-K faced Oakland one time last yr going 7ip-7h-2er @ Oakland for a 2-0 loss. Blanton has faced Boston a little more in his career notching a total of 38ip w/ 2-1 record and a 3.76era. Last season he faced Boston 3 times, twice on the road. In his home start he went 7.1ip-4h-1er for the 1-0 loss. On the road he went 7ip-6h-4er for ND and 5ip-11h-5er again for the ND. Looking over Blanton's home starts last year he gave up 3, 2, 2, 2, 0, 1, 1, 1, 5, 5, 5, 1, 0, 2, 3..... Outside of those 3 straight home starts, he was very solid like his era indicates. The RS hitters who give Blanton a problem are Lowell (.286 in 14), Pedroia (.375) in 8), Manny (.600 in 15), Ortiz (.33 in 15) so that is a bit concerning as well. I see that this line varies a little online, w/ Pinny listing Blanton +118. After RS Nation backs this guy, the line could move some more as well. I think to make up for the offense that the A's lack, the ability if Dice-K is on to shut this team down, I am looking for +128ish or more. The under in this game is my play until otherwise noted. I think with each pitcher going 6+ w/ 2er or less each is the type of grind it out game I have in mind. Looking for a 4-2, 3-1, type game.
