Stupid shit like this seems to happen at least once everycouple months or so and burns a portion of my bankroll.

At 6:50, when I got home tonight (was out with the wife), I go to bet my games. For some reason my computer is moving very slowly tonight, my little notebookcircle is just spinning and spinning...........Anyways, I get all of my bets in except for two........as I place the one, 5 Dimes page is loading, loading, loading, then says "bet not accpeted.'' (Off topic here.....this is a huge pet peeve of mine with them. First, to my knowledge, you can only place one single wager at a time. Then , two, near gametime their shit is tied up beyond belief.........I knew this happened in the NFL, but not really baseball. Then at 7:05 sharp, they yank their lines for baseball. Not a second past unlike hoopps or football.)

So I figure, ok, now I hope those two bets lose and I saved a few bucks. THe bets were Baltimore Over and Cincy. Baltimore flew over the total early and Cincy was losing all game. So, I figured, ok, theyll wash out at least. No loss there. Well, f'n Cincy scores 3 in the 9th to win it. Now I am fuming! Just lost two winners. So, I look to get it back on a couple of NBA 2H's and double down on the first........LOSER. Now, even more pissed, place another single bet, LOSER, and finally one last single one.......yep, lose by one shot!

So, instead of being up 1 unit today, I am down 8. Pretty freaking pathetic. All because the computer wouldnt load shit up for me! It happens to the best of us I suppose. :ohno:

i dont know you but from what i just read you are neither seasoned or disciplined IMHO if you let that kind of stuff put you on tilt that stuff happens

pick up a phone next time the computer is slow you would be surprised how easy it is to place a bet over the phone

GL with your wagers
:toast:

btw most books yank baseball lines at start time as most go off unlike other sports like basketball at the time listed

The NBA bets were solid bets I wouldve played anyway just doubled up trying to recoup what I missed on. Just so happens on the night I decide to do this they tank out going 0-3. Oh well I guess. Im sure its happened to you at some point.

This is what you get for spending time with your wife instead of staying focused on the important stuff

I'd say she owes you for messing up your bets

Not because of the computer, but because of yourself. You let a game that you didn't even have money on put you on tilt. Nevermind the fact that it would have won by what you would yourself call a horrible beat for the other side. You aren't nearly as disciplined as you think you are.

I once chased for a couple days, all because I was one minute late getting down on a Big East tournament game, that was just a little action bet for me. Chased with some online casino, then doubled up on the night game, then bet 3 games the next day.....it turned out to be like a $1800 loss, all because a game won that I didn't have money on. Most people are not disciplined, so the only way to avoid stupid shit is to have someone else keep you accountable. It helps to have to admit to a friend every time you act like the idiots on Deal or No Deal.

Yeah, this kind of thing happens to everyone. It's easy to come in here and say you're not seasoned or disciplined. I think you can generally be disciplined, but still have lapses like this. A consistent shooter can still have streaks where they miss a bunch in a row, but they're still considered consistent. Live and learn

It happens, you just accept that the bet didn't go in.

Sometimes I'll have an offer at Matchbook that just won't fill... oh well, if it doesn't.

If you were disciplined this would not happen. You may have been disciplined, but the moment something like this happens you can no longer call yourself disciplined. The fact it happens regularly reinforces this.

Yeah, this kind of thing happens to everyone.

No, not everyone. My definition of professional includes being immune to tilt and ignoring missed bets.

I think you can generally be disciplined, but still have lapses like this.

If you're generally disciplined but prone to occasional moments of tilt, you are undisciplined. Discipline is being able to stay in control at all times, not just most of the time. Most people can stay disciplined most of the time, and much of what separates true professionals (and I mean a professional standard, not success) from the rest is their ability to stay in control at all times. A truly seasoned bettor won't get caught up over something so trivial.

Original poster, I have no idea whether you are a good handicapper or not, but your post shows a lack of maturity and discipline. While you may find this suggestion offensive, it is the truth. You ignore EV, you follow missed bets, you get emotional over a minor situation, you go on tilt, complain about "bad beats", talk of "winners" and "losers", complain about a single day of results and then blame it all on something other than yourself. It sounds like a typical gambler to me.

Choose "Bet the Board" at 5Dimes, and then you can place more than one wager at once.

Man, I don't say this very often but I do know how you feel and it happens to alot of us. Breaks even out and if you stay disciplined you will be back up eight units in no time. Good luck this weekend.

You can make multiple straight bets at the same time on 5dimes/propbet, choose bet the board instead of straight and it will allow you to choose multiple sports and provide boxes (instead of check the circle) for your bets.

gotta be honest, you don't sound seasoned nor disciplined.

do I know what you're saying? yes. But you very obviously let your emotions get the best of you in every facet of your gambling. This is like rule 1 or 2 in betting, to be objective and level headed and don't let your emotions get involved. THe reason you had a losing night was not because the gambling site was slow, it's because of your impulsivity and gambling addition.

good luck

Lets not all start getting sharp because someone posts a genuine thread, Wolfie could easily have passed. There's not one punter who hasnt done this and worse at some time and would likely not own up to it happening recently, of course with the exception of our resident Brucie from Oz who probably feels the need to post good betting management practice considering the fables of His Countrymen.

Of course Our Mr J is correct in stating that your betting shouldnt relapse to any of these situations if you are disciplined and personally I never nowadays have any emotions on My own strategies. However, things do get pretty tedious and mechanical at times and I'm not adverse to a percentage of my Bank being used for Fun which usually amounts to following a poster on here who has made a good case for a Bet. And this to Me is where the chasing can start with some as a losing wager leans heavy on the mind, " I could have picked better myself" syndrome and then the angry chase begins.

I've often said on here the only way to beat this is to keep 10% odd of your bank aside and bet into it whenever the anger or knee-jerk situation arises, by Xmas this part of your Bank will be showing the best percentage profit on the Year. You can also use this for your interest Bets on TV ETC, no need to thank Uncle Winbet or send a Xmas pressy out of your winnings. :drink:
