Actually in cases where you can get ahead of huge line swings you can put yourself in a position to hold wagers on each side at very favorable numbers opening up an excellent chance to catch a middle/side while only risking (if laying -110) 5% of your total amount wagered if the middle or side does not hit.
Unfortunately for players tonight who tried to middle the Celtic/Bobcat game despite the big names not playing for the Celts tonight they still romped like they were playing at full strength.
When the game openend Celtics around -9 for example, that was the time to take Charlotte plus 9 and then later after the news was released a player could wait until he felt the game moved all it would. Tonight Charlotte was actually a small favorite very close to tip off so you could bet back all of your bet on Boston plus 1.5 for example and have a 10 point of so middle.
This one did not get there so if you bet a dime $1100/$1000 on each side you would have only lost $100 in juice or 5% of the amount wagered (not including juice). At that rate you only have to hit one middle out of 20 to break even or one side out of ten to break even.
Of course 10 point middle are the extreme end of the major line move spectrum, realistically when healthy stars are sat out of games you might find 4 to 6 point middles much more often than 10 pointers...

FYI -- Heads up for Sharks Vs Stars hockey game on Sunday..
<HR style="COLOR: #fdde82" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->When the Sharks lost 4-2 in Los Angeles on Thursday night, it marked the first time in 21 games that the Sharks lost in regulation and failed to earn at least one point. The Sharks went 18-0-1-1 since losing 3-2 in regulation at New Jersey on Feb. 20.
Goalie Evgeni Nabokov needed to win his last two games to tie the NHL record of 48 wins set by New Jersey's Martin Brodeur, but because that mark is no longer attainable due to the loss to the Kings, look for backup Brian Boucher to draw the start in the meaningless season finale in Dallas on Sunday.
