They are horrible so far this year. They were supposed to be a surprise in the NL East, they are loaded and they start the season very poorly, about to be 2-4 and havent looked good at all. Im sure they were thinking starting against Washington and Cincy they would at least be 4-2.

They have terrible pitching, their offense will have to carry them.

They have Myers, Hammel, and Moyer is still decent. That should be enough. With their offense, they dont need great pitching, but their offense isnt doing anything.

Phillies always start off the season with a losing record in the first month.

It usually takes a team a month to get the offense going just ask the Tigers or Yankees.

Hamels is pitching tomorrow and I expect them to win especially with Lidge as the closer now.

Hamels is a stud, but Myers has to prove he can be an effective starter again.

Myers has great stuff, but at times he tries to overthrow the ball and not just trust his stuff. He had no location on his fastball today.

Still if anybody faced that Volquez kid today I don't know if anybody would have beat him. Him and Cueto will be a nice 1-2 punch for the Reds the next 5-7 years.

six games in the season is no way to tell what this team will or will not do. Like somebody said the offense usually dont get it poppin on a usual basis until about may/june.

Everybody counted out the Phillies last year and what did they do in the 2nd half? Make up 7 games over the Mets and win the division.

The first month of the season is usually tough for teams that rely on their offense to win games like the Phillies, Tigers, Rockies, and Yankees.

I would say the schedule has hurt the Red Sox more than anything. To play in Japan then play 2 spring training games then to travel to Oakland and Toronto is crazy especially for the team that won the World Series last year so you would think they would start at home.

Don't count the Phillies out. They suck every April. I am worried about their pitching though. Maybe Myers belongs in the bullpen and they should have got another starter instead of Lidge. Things worked last year, so why the change? I also think the phils may have been a little cocky and overconfident this spring. You can not turn it on and off like a switch. Hopefully they don't fall too far behind. It gets old having to play catchup every year. I still think whoever stays the healthiest between the phils, mets and braves will win that division.

And yes I am a Phillies fan.

I just broke down today's matinee against the Reds.

Be careful backing Hamels, Phils have had virtually no success versus Red starter Arroyo.

I was leaning Hamels, until I learned that Phil's hit as a team .238 against Arroyo, and get this? they have a putrid .298 OBA against Bronson.

.298? That's just wrong.

Under is the play here.

You gotta watch out what you infer from those stats. Those are career numbers. Arroyo didn't even face the Phillies in 2006 or 2007 when the Phillies had the highest scoring lineup in the National League. Reds were horrible during the day last year... they had the 2nd highest ERA. Bronson follows suit with those stats and has gone a combined 8-16 during the day during his last 3 years. On the other hand, Hamels got 15 K's in his only start against the Reds last year. So hows that for a breakdown. I'm riding the current trends.

You make a good case, my point is, Arroyo has proven he can out the Phillies that he has faced.

I'm on the under 9, laid off the side.

Let's not include the Red Sox as a team struggling with their bats. lets not forget this poor team has traveled all over the fukin globe to begin the season, whoever made this scheduled sure did fuk them.

if they were a .500 team after that worldwind tour that would be something to talk about. tomorrow they open at home and at least rest today and will blow someone the fuk out tomorrow.

I know, 3-2 after 1, not the way you want to start an under wager.

But the bottom line is the bottom line.

Looking at Redding and the Nats tonight.

Free ride.
