I take protonix for my acid reflux. I had it so bad that it felt as though my chest was on fire. I have not had any occurences since I began taking them about a year ago.

I'm sure there are some natural remedies for my problem though.

I take the Prilo sometimes , never tried the other but i have done a lil research....Prevacid is supposed to eventually cure the problem and is usually only taken for like an 8 week stretch......1 tablet a day will cost you a lil over $100 for a month. Its prescription only and it seems the solutabs are most popular while the tablets may be more effective.
Im actually seeing a throat doctor this week and i hope maybe something like this will help.....although i have a feeling im going to get some bad news. smoking, acid reflux, etc for 30+ yrs has taken its toll on me.
If the Prilo is doing the job for u its certainly much cheaper......

Protonix worked like a miracle for me. I was on it for about 1 1/2 years and it healed me right up, I don't take anyhting now; been going on 3 years with nothing. I do get the occasional sour stomach, but I just do the over the counter stuff for that. Highly recomend Protonix.

I dont take anything anymore but back in the Jack daniels weekend days I took some Prilosec and it was a miracle drug for me. Cant say enough good things about it. I always laugh when I see people chewing on Tums and I think to myself how quick and easy the relief was with just one tablet of Priolsec. My other favorite was CHEWABLE (not the one yu swallowed as it didnt seem to work as good) Pepcid AC and I know a ton of people who say the same thing, instant relief.

i've taken Prilosec, prevacid, nexium, and aciphex.
They all seemed to work well couldn't tell the difference. Insurance would stop covering some and would switch to whatever was still covered.

Best for heartburn...

There are two main types of meds for heartburn (PPIs - proton pump inhibitors): Protonix, prilosec, nexxium and the other are H2 blockers (like Zantac).

The PPis are better in terms of strength and long term effectiveness however the H2 blockers tend to work quicker. So if you want quick relief take something like zantac or maalox, but if you want something that works daily you can use one of the PPIs. Also the companies will tout nexxium (the purple pill) as being the best, but to date none are better than the others so just choose the least expensive one for you.
