playing

Astros first baseman Lance Berkman returned to the lineup today against St. Louis after missing the previous 1 1/2 games with a strained neck, suffered when he was struck with a ball while stealing third base in San Diego last week.

Berkman doesn’t the full range of motion in his neck, but said it’s time to play.

“I definitely can still feel it, but they pay me a lot of money to get out there and play so I’m definitely going to try to do it,” he said. “If I go 0-for-4, I’ll have a ready excuse.”
