They did not have to win a championship to be considered imo.

In order:

UNLV -1991
Kentucky 1996
Duke - 1999
Duke -1992
Michigan 1993

I personally believe that the Memphis and KU team are two of the better teams of the past 17 years. Memphis is 1 FT from being considred one the great teams of the past 25 years. KU has really 7 starters. No big time talent, but just a great overall team.

Duke 1999 proved to be a real fraud, losing the title game to Uconn that year

This year's Kansas team had the deepest talent I've seen in a long time. I'd have to go back to the 1996 Kentucky team (Delk, Walker, Anderson, Padgett, Pope, etc.) to find an equal.

I believe 1993 Indiana beat Michigan twice that year and you have Michigan in top 5. The 93 IU team was the favorite to win it all before Alan Henderson tore his ACL at the very end of the season. They lost to Kansas in the Elite 8. The 93 IU team was the most loaded since 76, I think they averaged 83 a game, pretty unreal to think about it as that is more than Kansas or Memphis this year and they are thought of as very uptempo

valid point. indiana was underrated, and almost forgotton about nowadays, during that fab five era.
still, its downright scary to think how good michigan could have been if webber had stayed just one more year. overall, the big ten was damn good in the early 90s.

yeah Ohio St had some tough teams with Jimmy Jackson as well. Anyone recall what the line was when #1 IU went to #2 Michigan in 1993? IU ended winning by 1 or 2 when Henderson rejected Webber at the buzzer. This was well before my gambling years so didn't know the line, but I would have to think Michigan would have been favored.
