As a relative Greenhorn with anything to do with Baseball a couple of points hit me as strange when people are giving plays.
Why when someone is basing their Bet around the starting pitchers dont they bet the first 5 Innings? It seems ridiculous to harp on about this Pitcher will do this and that only for the game to be decided by the not-goodenoughs in the later Innings.
Why dont these same People not consider the Total instead of guessing how far the starter will go?
Does heavy vig on a total like 9 deter the average Punter that would take the -105 on 8.5 or does it encourage Him/Her?
There's more under My pillow but that will do for now. :drink:

I absolutely cannot do any competitions until late May. I have a trial and finals coming up.

As to Winbet's questions,

Some may consider a 5 inning wager. It isn't commonly offered, however, and almost never offered from a local. Older players are used to playing with locals, and often don't venture into more exotic offerings.

Totals aren't as intuitive as sides.
Does heavy vig on a total like 9 deter the average Punter that would take the -105 on 8.5 or does it encourage Him/Her?

Definitely not. They often don't care about juice, buying points, etc.

With who? My mate Bud asked for debate and as a greenhorn I often wonder at these questions so I'm only trying to find why they do it. :drink:

Agreed. Also, I didn't really ask for a debate, rather a moratorium on some of the mindless drivel

Here is my philosophy on 5 inning bets. I usually stick with underdogs with better starting pitchers. I feel like they are underdogs for a reason and the better team will usually prevail over 9 innings but no one really cares who is winning after 5, except us.

I will also play first 5s when I like the starting pitcher but not his bullpen.
