Think people are glad to see Callahan gone?
What's Red and White Hot?
Spring game sold out
A Nebraska football tickets have been a hot commodity for many years with sellouts in 289 consecutive regular season home games. Now we can add the 2008 spring game to that list.
Tickets for the April 19th Red-White scrimmage sold out on Wednesday. If you missed out and still want to go, be prepared to pay a premium price.
Spring fever in Nebraska arrives with a new coach and a new hope for Husker Nation.
Larry Phillips of Omaha says, "I think the new coach is the answer to all of our problems."
Husker Heaven owner Kathy McMichael says, "There's such a change from last year to this year. People are up. They're happy. They feel we're on the right track."
Kathy got her tickets for the spring game back in February.
"Going to the spring game, as you can tell from it being a sellout, is what it's all about right now," she says. "Everyone's really hyped for it."
"I think that's pretty spectacular," Larry Phillips adds. "Because how many spring games are sold out at any college?"
Once the tickets sold out they started to show up on e-Bay and other Internet sites. We found 13 listings on e-Bay with prices ranging from $24.95 for general admission to more than $127 for a pair of reserved tickets.
Scott Warthen might get some tickets from a friend. Like most Husker fans he likes the excitement surrounding this year's team and the new coaching staff.
"I think it's great," he says. "I think it's fantastic that people are still interested and they want to get down and see the new coaching staff and see what kind of progress they can make in less than a year and see what happens."
Kathy McMichael says, "This fall you're going to hear the loudest stadium you've ever heard. I think it's going to be remarkable. And that will be win or lose. And that's kind of cool. That's what really Nebraska's about."
More than 81,000 fans are expected for the Red-White scrimmage on April 19. The previous attendance record for the spring game was 63, 417 in 2005.
